Anyone actually heard of a release date for this yet? It's been repeatedly listed on "most anticipated of 2015" lists but I don't think they've explicitly said it's a 2015 release. Might be early 2016, I imagine when they get to the real bugfixing part, they'll end up with a few delays.

I hope they have some sort of Beta or something planned.

I don't want this to be the next Master Chief Collection or Drive Club

Yeah, a Public Beta sounds extremely necessary for this game. Dunno if they want to have everyone discover too much stuff before the game's full release, though....

They did mention that after the game releases, it'll be something they continue to support and develop. So I imagine they mean to do it that way instead. Bit like Minecraft.

This webcomic inspired me to make this observation.

Anyone volunteer to draw up the Underdeveloped Planet Preservation Pact?

*blows dust off account*

So, this game. THIS. GAME. When I saw it at E3 2014, it sold me on a PS4 (when I can afford it). What they showed this year made me yearn for it more. Horizon didn't hurt either.

This looks like everything I wanted from Freelancer and more. I'm pretty stoked to just hop in my vessel, meet up with some folk, and make some sort of, oh, I dunno', trek, we'll say, across the stars, if you will. As a sort of... star... trek... Sounds like fun, no?

I hope it doesn't go all Spore on us and not live up to it's potential, but with hardware capabilities being what they are, and learning from the mistakes of others, this should work out, I imagine. Don't ya' think?
Just Greg, thanks.

So the world is in early access? I knew I was born too early. (or was born before it was cool? B) )

Okay, preorder sites are up, but I gotta say, the more I see of this, the less unique/interesting it looks :( I wanted Noctis with maybe light combat, but it sounds like it's turned into Minecraft: Space Edition?

My question is it going to be always online or with there be an offline/solo mode as well?
I avoid online multiplayer because my brain still works.

Always online, but apparently the game is so huge that the devs estimate your chances of running into another player is minimal.

See that's another thing that looks like it's changed in the newer screens? It's like they're emphasizing co-op fly-y shooty stuff now?

Also was it properly online originally or was it like, asynchronous?

I guess I should have asked whether I require an internet connection to play it, ala Diablo 3.

Cause I will not be buying it no matter how good it is, if that is the case.

Wikipedia sez this:

Quote
Players participate in a shared universe, with the ability to exchange planet coordinates with friends, though the game will also be fully playable offline; this is enabled by the procedural generation system that assures players will find the same planet with the same features, lifeforms, and other aspects once given the planet coordinates, requiring no further data to be stored or retrieved from game servers.
