Looking pretty good, I will wait for release to see how it is before I jump in on a game (learned this over the years the hard way)  Between Divinity Original SIn, Wasteland 2 and this I will have RPGs galore for awhile now.

Have to admit after playing so much of Divinity the action based combat in PoE seems less fun than Divinitys turn based.. still cant wait tho.

Why do people think this is an action game?

Anyway, the beta is out for people who backed at a level that grants beta access.  Like me.

I might have more to say if I can actually get it working, 'cause I haven't had much luck with that yet...

Edit:

OK, first impressions of the beta: Damn this game runs slow.

Really slow.

I mean, really, really slow.

Hopefully they fix that before the final version...

That sounds normal for a beta. Wasteland 2 uses the same engine, and until recently it ran at about half the framerate is does now.

Played the beta last night, and I discovered/remembered that I am horrible at this sort of game. I died twice while playing the game. First time was against a bunch of gangsters and the second time was a OHKO from some random monster outside of town. Game ran perfectly fine on my computer.

Delayed to early 2015. Boo.

Oh well, there's more than enough CRPGs to play in the meantime. I'm still playing Divinity: OS, I haven't got round to Wasteland 2 yet, and Legend of Grimrock 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition are out soon too.

I'm glad that they're taking their time with it, really.  Obsidian has the reputation of releasing games that are ambitious, but buggy / unfinished.  In most cases this probably was completely out of their control as the publisher set a deadline and forced them to release it.  Now that they're releasing a game that isn't relying on a publisher for funding, it would be incredibly stupid for them to release something that isn't as polished as it could be.

I've got plenty of RPGs to keep me busy.  I'm on my second playthrough of Shadowrun: Dragonfall- Director's Cut (I love that game!).  I haven't even started Wasteland 2 yet and haven't finished Divinity: Original SinJagged Alliance: Flashback is coming out later this month.  Lords of Xulima will probably release in a month or two.   It's even possible Serpent in the Staglands and Starcrawlers will release before the end of the year.  Probably a few more games I've backed that might come out soon as well.   It's a great time to be a fan of "old school" CRPGs.

Most were expecting the game to be delayed.
I can't say it's much of a surprise.

It only came as a bit of a surprise to me because fairly recently in an interview on "Matt Chat" (youtube), Feargus from Obsidian said that PoE would "definitely" be released by the end of the year.

This game is really good.  It feels like it's been a billion years since I last played a well-written PC epic.

The only problem I'm having is finding a class to stick with.  It's a toss-up between chanter, paladin, and druid.

I'm sticking with a rogue because I like rogues and apparently there's no rogue companion*.

*As in scripted story companion - you can make generic companion however the hell you want too.

Yeah, there is no scripted rogue, monk, or barbarian party member.
Friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn't matter, but work is third.
