Classic Christmas Episodes
« on: December 15, 2013, 01:09:09 PM »
What are some of your favorite Christmas episodes from TV shows past or present?

I've been wanting to see the Yogi Bear Christmas Special.

It was excellent. It's been over 20 years since I've seen it but I remember loving it. He has to go into hibernation at the end and they wait until spring to open presents, I think .

I'm not a big "TV specials" person, can we extend it to films too?

As far as TV, I loved a lot of The Office christmas specials for being terribly awkward and goofy.  When I was a kid I loooved Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Movies are a different story:

Christmas Vacation is a classic (the song at the beginning makes me nostalgic and should only be heard in cold months).

Love Actually is awesome even as far as rom-coms go, it's one of the better.

Scrooged is an old favourite

Bad Santa for being a rare filthy holiday movie

Home Alone (I actually like the second one more and for....
)

No one here likes A Charlie Brown Christmas?  That one's great.  Then again, anything Peanuts/Charlie Brown is great in my book.  When it comes to Xmas television programming, I always watch A Christmas Story multiple times during the 24 hours of A Christmas Story marathon.  And I also like the Rankin-Bass Rudolph, with Hermy the dentist elf, the land of misfit toys, etc.

Tooker, that list is AWESOME!!! It will be playing in my house all this week in my efforts to "get in the spirit". I thank you.
In this world is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcedental entity or law? is it like the hand of god hovering above? Perhaps Man has no control even over his own will…

Neither are very Christmassy or actually connected to Christmas at all but two movies are always on TV over here every year during Christmas Day. They are the old Willy Wonka movie and Darbie O'Gill and the little people.

My favorite Christmas episode of a TV show was the animated episode of Eureka. Not only did the episode involve everyone turning into animated characters, but the type of animation kept changing, including classic Saturday Morning-style, claymation, CG (I think), and anime.

I like the big holiday season finale episodes of Downton Abbey that air around Christmas. But they're not Christmas-themed per se. I just like Downton Abbey is all. :P

Community has had four very strong Christmas episode, especially in season 2, when Abed imagines his "holiday intervention" as a Rankin-Bass stop-motion animated Christmas special.

Scrooged is an old favourite

This times a billion, that movie is criminally underrated.
favorite moments are 1, 2, 6, 8 and the toaster scene
a playlist

And still gotta watch the rest of Love Actually but this scene seems like it goes under the radar
