How different is this from Valkyria Chronicles then? I've been thinking of trying that at some point but I really wasn't reeled in by the STEAM demo. Found it just very slow and methodical with not a huge amount of strategy being necessary.
Differences that come to mind immediately:
-VC has character/classes level up which I don't think Codename STEAM has
-VC has weapons "types" and each character can equip a weapon of the appropriate type, as opposed to a character specific weapon with any sub weapon in CS
-Interception fire is automatic, doesn't take energy, and doesn't stop movement (not including killing you) in VC
-More units on the field in VC
-Larger maps in VC
-In VC you have a map view when you aren't controlling any characters, and you can give commands to only a certain number of units per turn, additionally you get diminishing returns per command if you control the same unit more than once
-VC has some weapons which have limited ammo

I'm sure there are more differences, but that is what I've got off the top of my head.
