RPGFan Pokemon League
« on: January 30, 2014, 08:26:13 AM »

What we've decided so far:
-Standard 6 v 6 matches. No duplicates, and no banned Pokemon. (List to follow)
-Sleep clause in in effect. (You may only put one of your opponents Pokemon to sleep at any time during a match. As soon as that Pokemon wakes up/faints, you may attempt to put another one into dream land.
-There are 8 Pokemon League Gyms. After one has defeated all 8 of the gyms, one may challenge the Elite 4.
-When a gym leader is defeated, he/she will give you a Pokemon as a "badge".
(For example, defeat me and you will receive a Mudkip with Pokerus)
-Like in the game, if at any point you lose against the Elite 4, you will "white out". You must then start from the beginning of the Elite 4 challenge.
-Challengers may not change their team once they begin the Pokemon League challenge. Even if you are a defending Champion.
-Defeat the Elite 4 and you become Pokemon League Champion. You must then defend your crown to challengers that defeat the Elite 4.
-If you are defeated by the current League Champion, you will "white out" and have to start from the beginning and face the Elite 4 once again.

Gym Leaders:
Starmongoose: Grass type
Wild Armor: Poison type
Hathen: Flying type
Nallo: Water type
Snow: Dark type

Ooooooooooooooooooooh. This sounds so fun!

I want in.

I like the idea of being a gym leader.

I will be a Grass gym leader and I will give whoever beats me a Chikorita!

I'll be a random crazy old man in a the park who says that "they just don't know how to make them anymore" and I'll have 6 pokemon from the original 150.

I'll comment about the comfy factor of shorts and short shorts.

Awesome! Any ideas on how to structure this?

All levels set to 50 so people don't need to grind their Pokemon.

No legenderies. They are just boring.

If they beat a gym leader, I could pin an appropriate badge onto their sig to show who they have beaten.

Any other ideas?

I think most community leagues make challengers have the same team for all gym challenges.

That makes sense. It would suck for me to face a team of Fire-types and Nallo to face a team of Electric types. :P

I was actually thinking about how we would be huge pushovers if people would change their teams constantly. :p

Great stuff!

So you thinking Smogon rules? Or should we make brand new ones and just implement some of their rules?

Alright! Nice to see that at least a few are interested. So far we have 3 possible gyms: poison, grass and water.

So we have got a few ideas, namely:
-Challengers to the league will have to use the same team for all of the gyms. This will make it much more challenging.

-Matches will be standard 6v6 with levels set to 50.

-Gym leaders, if defeated, must give the winner a Poke'mon representing their badge.

Keep em coming!

Smogon rules are fine, though I doubt any one here would try those sorts of dirty tactics, it doesn't hurt.

Oh, we had something like this way back when G/S wasn't even out yet! (We used a pokémon battle simulator.) I was the ice gymleader :D

It's a long time ago so I'm sure I forgot most of the details, but we do remember we had a special prize for whoever managed to beat all gymleaders. I think it was a custom forum title or something similar.

Too bad I can't join in now. I haven't really played a Pokémon game since Gold ^_^'
