Rise of Mana (w 3 audio samples)
« on: February 27, 2014, 04:30:46 PM »
The soundtrack page launched first and just has a nice arrangement of "Rising Sun." And it says KOKIA is going to sing on the OST.

The game page launched (mobile phone game, meh). It has 3 audio samples. The first is Shimomura's, the second has been confirmed by Hiroki Kikuta on Twitter as being his. The third I think ALSO sounds like Kikuta but I could be wrong.

I said this elsewhere, but if this turns into another "bad game, good soundtrack" (ie Unlimited SaGa), then at least I get to buy another great soundtrack, ne?

Samples here. Enjoi!

Oh hey, the KOKIA song is in the last minute of the 4 minute trailer. And of course it's gorgeous.

I kinda want the template for that image so I can swap the screenshots for 20 other big RPG names we've lost since the last generation.

The soundtrack has me interested however.

Sorry about the size, I can't use photobucket at work - only imgur.

At least with the World of Mana fiasco and Circle of Mana being a iOS CCG, I've pretty much lost all faith in the franchise.

On the plus side, the music is nice.

I just hope that one of these days, Squeenix is going to wake up, smell the coffee, and rip the fuck out of Xenoblade and give it a coat of Mana paint.

Oh well, either way this is much better than what SaGa's getting this year.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

I still think they could have stopped the downfall by calling Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 'Chronicles of Mana' and throwing in some rabites. Cute and colourful. Multiplayer. Action RPG. Everyone would have been happy!

I'm kinda hoping Square Enix will turn all "Link Between Worlds" and bring back old goods with a new coat of paint.  that's all that really had to do to begin with.

If their painters are the same ones who did the FFVI phone port then maybe they shouldn't...

Like I said in the thread over in the Multiplayer section (maybe a merge of threads is in order), saying you're losing faith in the series now of all times makes little sense to me because it's been pretty much nothing but mediocre/trash games since Legend. The best one was probably Children of Mana and that one was really dull.

The music I hear on the site sounds alright, however I feel even the graphics have taken a hit this time. Take a look at a screenshot of Legend or Children of Mana and look at how beautiful the colors are, versus how flat and boring the colors look in this game. Really loses a lot of that storybook feel.

Only Mana game I truly enjoyed was Secret of Mana, I really don't understand the following this series has.
My Blog - It's about gaming stuff. You can read it if you want. No pressure. I mean, there's a link there you just have to click on, but... y'know... whatever.

3 was good (Though I prefer SoM more myself still), Legend is a bit more mixed but still generally considered good. You really only need to have one game in your series become a legend (in this case SoM) before people refuse to shut up about it for decades, though.

FTR while I think SoM was a great game, I felt like it's aged pretty poorly when you consider the other RPGs on the SNES that were considered amazing. I'd take the Soul Blazer series over the Mana series.

I liked Final Fantasy Adventure/Mystic Quest or whatever you want to call the first one as well. That was one of the games that got me into the genre in the first place. There's one thing that nearly ruined it for me though. Here's a hint: PALMTREES AND EIGHT. I was like L50 when I left that desert. Life without the internet was hard D:

The first one is Final Fantasy Adventure or Sword of Mana for the remake.

Mystic Quest is something else.
