I'm also replaying Shining Force the Sword of Hajya on my 3DS. Recently recruited Higgins.

XBC2's "final" DLC drop was 15 legendary cores, and the Torna game. So if you are going to buy it and Torna I guess now is the time to play it.

I did get 5 rare blades out of 6 tries with the legendary cores. I do like the gatcha game aspect of it, its just there should be better odds though, considering even getting a good share of rare cores is hard.

On chapter 8 now and blew past the 100 hour mark. Might end up spending more time on this than XCX. Will probably take a break after it and do Torna sometime next year because I just know Torna is going to be at least 60 hours.

Dragon Quest XI

Man.

This game.

I think I've taken like 50 screencaps already and I'm barely 1/4 through the story.  That's how gorgeous it is.  The story is a bit broad (I blame silent protag) and definitely cliché at times, but the characters are fantastic, the world is superlative, and only 30 (very slow) hours in and I have already felt moved nearly to tears on 3 separate occasions.

Truly, everything outside of the OST has been perfect or near-perfect.

Awesome. He's apparently pretty good at combat.

Ninjas rarely disappoint. I did like using him on my first playthrough and getting another critical sword is a nice bonus. Wish his availability was better though.

@Arvis I have no idea why you passed on Skies of Arcadia... it's fantastic and fun as hell and won't offend your sensibilities.

Give it a runout once you're done with DQXI (if you still have the means)

DQXI: Currently raking it in over at the Casino. The Slime Time thing was nice enough, but Slots are still the more efficient go-to for massive payouts.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

Sorry @Rucks , but I do believe I mentioned that it bored me to death.  However, that was after giving it like.... 2 hours?  Maybe slightly less.

I still want to play it again now that my attention span has evened out in my old age.  But I'm not sure what the best way to do that is.

If you still have your Wii, I will send it to you when I'm done.  I bought it off @Frostillicus (he gave me a helluva deal, tbh) and I'm sure he'd want me to do the same.

Wow.  Cool, yeah, I'll definitely fast track it then, in that case.

I enjoyed Arcadia, but think it would be better with an option to speed up battles and in-game tracking of enemy weaknesses (I remember needing to use the manual constantly to see what enemies were weak against). I've heard some people complain about the soundtrack, but methinks they're just tone-deaf and wouldn't know good RPG music if it bit them in the butt.

I played plenty Toukiden Kiwami on a day-trip, and am still in Chapter 4.

the weakness system isn't as important as in a lot of other games.  I'm 80% of the way through the game and I think it's only been a real issue once.

Played some more Toukiden: Kiwami, but am still in Chapter 4, despite spending more time than usual with the game.

I recruited a lizard man in Romancing SaGa and actually finished a quest to get a monetary reward, and I'll probably keep him since I sparked a powerful ability that hits all enemies for a good amount, alongside Claudia's bow skill that hits all foes.

Indeed. It's not easy to find for cheap, and I think all lovers of RPGs should give it a go.

EDIT:

Tales o' Braseria - Currently navigating Vortigern.
As far as the game itself goes: so far, so good. As I've said before, Velvet's badassness feels forced, but some of the decisions she makes definitely back up the 'tude. Combat is fun, and of course, that's the meatiest part of a Tales game.
I'm wondering why the hell the glowing Katz ball system is even a thing. They re-spawn everywhere in no time. I've already got 150-ish, and haven't found any chests that cost more than 35.

In the spirit of this time of year, I've started The Evil Within 2. It definitely borrows a thing or two from TLoU, but it's still spooky goodness. I remember the first game starting out "heavier", psychologically. However, I just started Chapter 3, (when this game opens up a bit), so I'm sure much will happen, still.
