I rewatched the reboots and I must say, it could have been a LOT worse. They ain't bad. Didnt fuck too much with the lore and the casting was as good as possible. Star Wars should take note. No better reboot other than Apes as far as im concerned. I still think the Spock/Kirk opposite was clever. And Cumberbatch did great with the materail.

Welp. That's the end of this thread.

So, Star Trek Wars or Star Wars Trek?

Trek all the way and DS9 is the best of the lot besting out TNG only because of the excellent story arcs.

Worf rules

and so does Mile O'brien.

And he's a legit actor that doesn't get any exposure stateside, really
Here's a video showing his range!

No stateside exposure my ass, homeboy was in Con Air!

Trek all the way, DS9 is my favorite television show of all time, and they really should continue the Trek universe post-voyager because I liked how TNG, DS9 and Voyager together built an awesome world.

There were some pretty awesome spaceship battles at the end of DS9 as well.

Sisko was not a captain though (although I guess technically you could count commanding the Defiant as captaining, though IIRC, he held some other rank like commander or admiral for that).

err, Babylon 5?

I kid, but I enjoyed B5.

To answer the question, I am partial to Wars, but have a soft spot for Trek. One is more Sci-Fi, the other is more Space Fantasy.

I watched DS9 as a kid at my grandma's on the weekends, but grew tired of it after a few seasons. I'm told that it really picks up with the space battles and stuff right where I left off, but I've never had the chance/time to go back and watch DS9. Skipped Enterprise/Voyager. I would have to say I'm mostly a TNG or original movie series kinda guy.

Never could get into the EU for Trek, as much as I tried. Wars always had the better EU IMO.

For me though, Indiana Jones trumps all, but that is neither here nor there.

Oh god Babylon 5 is my absolute favorite.

I have the whole series on dvd and... even though the CGI doesn't really hold up (though I don't mind it) the film quality makes the 1st season look grainy and almost film noir.

Here's one of my favorite clips, I love G'Kar and his dialog/philosophy

I remember borrowing the whole series from my friend on DVD (he was adamant that I watch this) so I relented, way back in...2004?

I was taken aback at how good it was, and was intrigued by the story it was telling (though season 5 suffered from the "wrap up" feel). At the time, I don't recall the CG being so dated it looked terrible, but that was 10 years ago, and I can't comment on how they look now.

Never did get into Crusader though.

My friend (who was the biggest Trek geek I knew) was adamant that DS9 started getting great when it started stealing from B5's plot. I dunno if this is true or not.

I really need to watch Babylon 5 one of these days.  I've never seen so much as one episode.

Sisko gets promoted to Captain in Season 3. Before that he was a Commander.

So did I.

At the time, when we used to get both back to back on Saturday afternoons in syndication, my philosophy was "Why not both?"

It was fucking great having two sci fi shows with gigantic space battles.

Those really were the glory days of SF on TV.
