Know Anything about Refrigeration?
« on: May 01, 2014, 01:22:33 PM »
So here's the deal, after lots of searching online and a customer service line that thinks I'm a professionally licensed repairman or something, I am desperate to fix my mini-fridge.

The scoop: After about 5 months of the thing running perfectly fine, it is now making horrible noises. From the moment I plug it in, it makes it's normal humming sound. After about 15 minutes, it starts to make a soft buzzing sound (which seems to be coming from the inside, but it's a tough call to make). Then after about 3-4 hours later it suddenly starts sounding like a jet engine. Just the loudest, most obnoxious sound. The sound is too loud to accurately determine where it's coming from. Both fans are visible and seem to be running smoothly. I have no idea what is going on.

I'm no expert, but the only real moving part in a refrigerator are the fans (Unless the buzzing is electrical and you see sparks)
There's also the compressor, but that shouldn't sound like a jet engine.
