The article's pretty on the money when it comes to my thoughts towards CNN. I honestly can't watch it, but then I've preferred CBC and BBC programming for years. I think the only thing I watch on CNN is Larry King, and even that's a rare occasion these days. It feels like CNN is becoming more and more a tabloid, and less of an actual news station. This article doesn't have as much to do with the programme, but it's not that far either when it comes to criticising content.

Welcome to Media 101.  Complaints like this were why I bailed on my journalism degree three years ago.  When a story's entertainment value starts to get as much emphasis as its factual veracity, even at that beginning level, you know things have started to go to shit.

Yeah, I've been watching/reading only CBC or BBC news for a long time. I remember when I stopped getting the cable channels CNN was with and started watching CBC newsworld a lot more. You could tell almost immediately how different it was. You actually get a sense of the rest of the world, instead of just a myopic american interest only view.

A sort of symbol for the style > substance crap is the increasingly flashy and useless graphics. They are pretty headache-inducing and lack any charm that I see in older generation news shows. It kind of fits with the lack of important reporting in a majority of cases.
