Yeah, to be honest though, it's just another latter day Rush album.  Some songs are fucking great.  Some songs are just generic Rush though.

Just another Roll the Bones or Test for Echo.  Album of your career my ass, Neil Peart.

I just bought "Ziltoid the Omniscient" by Devin Townsend.  Like, I just walked in the fucking door with it.  I have to say, this opening song is like Queen's Flash Gordon theme on acid and Satan. :P

Not a CD purchase, but I got some new pickups for my bass.  Seymour Duncan Basslines STK-J2 Hot J-bass humcancelling stacks.  I'm having a luthier overhaul the electronics in my bass.  I hate active electronics, so I'm having these new Duncans put in and the bass rewired passive.

Well, since we're talking pickups here, I replaced my SG's pickups today.  My guitar playing has changed quite a bit over the last five years, so a change was necessary.  I replaced my Seymour Duncan Jazz/Custom combo with a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom (not a typo :P) in the bridge and a Alnico Pro II in the neck.

Good changes so far.  The Alnico sounds a hell of a lot better on rhythm than the Jazz, and the new bridge pickup absolutely blazes on lead shit.

The Subways - Young For Eternity

I won't even lie to you guys--I've been watching a heinous amount of The O.C. both for character/dialogue research as well because of my man-crush on Adam Brody. Nonetheless, This group was featured in one of the episodes in Season 3. They have that "old rock" sort of thing going on and while it's nothing special it's a fun album. Definitely passes the time in a car ride. I'm not a hard customer to please when it comes to music, though.

The missus and I exchanged a few albums for this holiday season in the middle of the Summer.

I got her:

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer
Victor

She got me:

Mastodon - Remission
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet
Therion - Celebrators of Becoming

And holy shit, if you do not own Celebrators of Becoming, sell your internal and external organs to buy it.  The cover of Black Funeral is worth the admission price alone.  I was amazed that Mr Levin could actually hit all of King's notes.  :P
