So Deggy, how you liking Pretest?  I personally think it's a fantastic album.  It's more accessible than other Dysrhythmia albums with tighter songwriting with some moments of stream of consciousness jamming.

Catalog of Personal Faults is my favorite song on the album.  Bastard is another song that I can never get tired of.

EDIT: And DR, excellent choice.  I think Seymour Duncan makes the best pickups.  I dare Duncan to make a bad pickup.  Reasonably priced too.  Bartolinis are usually hit or miss with me and I can't stand EMGs (they make every instrument they're in sound exactly the same- sterile).

Lindy Fralin and Nordstrand pickups are said to be absolutely top notch, but those get expensive.

I've only listened to Pretest once so far, Dincrest, but I definitely liked what I heard.

Today I bought:

ELP - Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Symphony X - Paradise Lost
Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn

HMV in Southampton is pretty good.

Get out of my music forums, madam.

Also, "Paradise Lost" by Symphony X is the best piece of progressive metal I've heard in fucking years.  The title track alone is worth the price of the cd.

I'm enjoying Paradise Lost, but not as much as a lot of others. But then, Symphony X have never quite completely done it for me :P

I got:

MONO/world's end girlfriend - Palmless Prayer/Mass Murder Refrain

VidnaObmana - An Opera for Four Fusion Works: Act Three: Reflection on Scale (featuring Kenneth Kirschner)

VidnaObmana - An Opera for Four Fusion Works: Act Four: The Bowing Harmony (featuring Steven Wilson)

Horrendously long and pompous titles, but some really creepy and beautiful music!

So many albums I wanted to buy, but I could only afford to buy 2 on iTunes.

My choices were:
Dream Theater- Systematic Chaos
Symphony X- Paradise Lost
Kamelot- Ghost Opera
Sonata Arctica- Unia.

I opted for the Sonata Arctica and Kamelot albums.  No regrets.  That Kamelot album is incredible.  And I have much love for Sonata.

I had a big week:

Turbo Fruits - S/T
Belle and Sebastian - Storytelling
The Velvet Underground - S/T (On limited transparent blue vinyl)
Lee Ranaldo - Scipture of the Golden Eternity
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation Deluxe 4 LP Set

I've only tasted the Fruits so far, but the verdict is: they're fuckin' great.

The Pax Cecilia - Blessed Are the Bonds

This album can be obtained free from The Pax Cecilia's official website, and I just got it in the mail today. The packaging is very impressive, a lot nicer than most CDs that actually cost money. The music itself is an amalgam of metal, avant-garde, and symphonic music. To me it sounds like a much more accessible and less experimental version of Kayo Dot. Very epic, and a very worthwhile listen considering its price of zero dollars. You've nothing to lose in checking this album out.
