Steven Wilson - Insurgentes

This is the super deluxe (expensive) book edition. It's truly a work of art, before you even listen to the music. It's rare that the artwork etc enhances the experience of the music itself, but this whole thing really comes together into something special.

Fantastic album.  I love Victor Damiani's basslines throughout.

I haven't bought any new music lately, which is pretty sad.  I heard that Guns 'n Roses album Chinese Democracy FINALLY released this past week.  Anyone listen to it?  Is it any good?

The entire thing was available to stream on the MySpace for about a week. I gave it a listen and thought it was pretty average. Axl's definitely tried to do something a little bit different, especially compared to traditional Guns N Roses, but quite a few of the tracks are just uninteresting ballads. My biggest problem was that it just doesn't rock hard enough. He got some really good guitarists to work on it, and, a few good solos and riffs aside, nothing sticks in the memory. I would say it's worth hearing though, if only to see see what took him so long. It's quite a dense album, and I'm sure it would reveal more on repeated listens.

Everyone has stopped buying music!

I got Ayreon - Timeline. It's a best of, but I haven't heard the Actual Fantasy material and it has a new track. I only got it though because Amazon accidentally listed it for Ł2.98. That's less than a quid a disc.

Cradle of Filth - Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder

Holy shit, talk about a complete reversal from that last piece of shit they released.  This thing is on par with "Midian".

Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares
Alone in the Dark's OST [Most recent]

I'm a fan of Choral music, and these girls are creepy as heck, but the music sounds really amazing. :)

I just snagged "Alone 2, the Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo" (from Weezer)

I like it a lot. It's very home recordingy, but still has a lot of refinement to it.
