Bloodborne is an RPG from Japan, so technically...

And yes indeed, I stand corrected on technicality and the age old debate of "what qualifies" enters the arena. To this ninja however, Bloodborne character models do not sport large enough eyes to pass. Large eyes can of course be compensated for with deliriously happy music, offensively bright and lush color palettes amongst various other things but in this instance that is just not the case.
I am more a battlefield than a Ninja.

Bloodborne and Souls, for me, qualify as regular JRPGs because of their absurd amount of stats and numbers.

Seriously, can we just combine or cut some of these?

Also grinding. Lots of grinding. (Or maybe I'm just not very good :) )

Edit: Also, the story. It makes about as much sense as many JRPGs.

You make some strong points here. Without a doubt, IMO your "edit" is actually the quintessential element that totally makes me rethink my stance on the situation. Having just finished Dark Souls 2, I can safely say the bat shit crazy narrative is totally in line with JRPG flavor. I will now admit defeat on the matter. I suppose souls just wears a rather convincing western attire for a JRPG in a manner of speaking.
