So Caitlin reviewed Zac Zinger's Okami Jazz album. It's quite rad. Have any of you checked this out?

Friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn't matter, but work is third.

Young prodigies like Zac Zinger make me jealous. Capcom was smart to commission him for this kind of work. The professionalism in the arrangements, performance, and recording/mixing are all there. Y'know what would be nuts though?

When I think of Okami, I always ALSO think of Wind Waker.

I wonder if good Zelda jazz could exist? I mean, I wouldn't have thought Okami's source material could work with jazz. But really, jazz is one of those realms where ANY source material can be nicely adapted. So why not?

A Zelda Jazz album would be sex for ears.

Really curious about this, or any jazz album.  Truly an underappreciated music genre.  It's softer listening but without ever being to tiresome.  I'm not sure how well the Okami album will work for me since I barely remember the tracks from it, but the samples are lovely in and of itself.

When you add Jazz, you add pizzazz. ;)

I really dig the samples as well. I actually had this gem in my sights when surfing around CD Japan, but decided to hold off since there's going to be a vol. 3 coming out that will be in the style of what I believe is Lounge Music? Oh geesh, I want to hear this badly. ;)

But back to the album: What I love in any jazz arrangement is when they throw in an organ in the mix! "Waka's Promenade~Playing With Waka" is a great example of how funky it can get when you get the organ, bass, and percussion hitting it off. MMMMMMMmmmmm~

What I would do for another soundtrack in the fashion of Space Channel 5...

I had a quick chat w/ Zac over FB, and since it hit me that this is a Capcom thing with him right now (Capcom is funding these publications, hence Monster Hunter and Okami) ... I think it's fair to say that us RPG Fans should be *demanding* a Breath of Fire jazz album! :)

I'd also argue for Phoenix Wright, though it's already *had* a jazz album. :)

Fingers crossed for BoF. BoF III has some incredible source material that would be GREAT jazz, but sounds kinda yucky in its 32-bit sequencing. Zac Zinger could do wonders with that series.
