Danganronpa

I'm a big fan of Danganronpa's music and while listening to the Best Music of 2014 there were a few tracks from Super Danganronpa 2 BUT no one on the site has reviewed this album or the original. I enjoy reading the reviews and would like to get the fine people at RPGFan's take on the albums.

You make a very valid point! (Thanks for listening to MOTY!)

Somehow the reviews must have slipped under the radar. I'll look into it :)

It does have some pretty wild music-- though based on what I've played of the game, it's all oddly appropriate for the tone, sort of like 999/VLR's music fit their tone well.
Friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn't matter, but work is third.

Some of the music reminds of the Persona series as well, happy-cheerful against a backdrop of darkness. I haven't played 999 yet but I have it in my 3DS pouch ready to play. I did hear one song on one of the eps from that game too, I didn't really have an opinion on it, it was OK but music like that can be tough to judge if it's "ambient but fitting to the game." I love many of the songs off the Parasite Eve 2 soundtrack (a highly underrated game in my opinion) but I'm not sure I could recommend them to people. Is the main desert ghost town song actually good/creepy or am I creeped out/loving it because I've played the game and know the area (AKA nostalgia)? It's tough.

I actually just started playing Danganronpa (1) earlier this week. Some of it are so blatantly copying mechanics from games before it ... but because the total product in the end really is a new and unique experience, I'm okay with that.

And yeah, the music is ... weird and new and I like it.

AAAANND yeah, I had a feeling we'd not yet gotten reviews of the soundtracks for these games yet. It'll come. :)

One of my favorite songs is the "Closing Argument" music. Great, chill music for the lengthiest of all the "trial mini-games" (filling artwork into the comic panels).

There's another song that plays *after* you complete the closing argument puzzle that has these sweet (non-lyrical) vocals.

Man. I think I might end having to purchase and review this thing. It's growing on me quicklike.
