That's pretty cool!

Have you played Super Columbine Massacre RPG? It's classic, though sort of dated in terms of art games etc, but worthwhile and one of the more highly profiled RPGM games. It blew me away when it first came out, and is still incredibly tragic and mostly sensitive.

Let me know if you're ever working on a game yourself! I love helping people out and collaborating.

I remember Super Columbine coming out and the furore around it; I didn't actually play it at the time, but it was easy to see the author's satirical intentions and the knee-jerk uproar around it kind of proved his point. He seemed like a pretty cool guy in interviews. I'll have to check it out.

I'm definitely up for trying a collaboration at some point!

I'm almost done playing vampire dawn a translated german rpg maker game.

Its battle system is typical turn based with the added ability of draining blood which allows each character to use their blood points to cast their spells. You can also drain blood from any random npcs or convert them into items and no npc is off limits. The game is also complete open world without feeling overwhelming. I also really liked the story it told and I really liked the characters.

You can download for free here: http://rpgmaker.net/games/4626/

I also would like to add this game its in the process of being translated but what it accomplished with rpg maker is really something else: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H47JGEy6VSE

I hear a lot of 'translated German RPG Maker game'. Does Germany have a significant RPG Maker scene?

(Not that it would surprise me. Germans be like "Oh, your cosplayers do short little acts on stage? We got Showgruppe that produce complete musicals." They excel at being productive fans.)

Has anyone ever finished Middens here? I recall it being difficult.

Bat Castle is another one - super stylish, but tough.

A youtuber to check out that plays a bunch of rpgmaker games is ManlyBadassHero. He plays a lot of them (Middens including) and they are very interesting to watch (while some downright creepy).

After you play Middens, be sure to play Gingiva.

Let me edit this game as well: Toilet in Wonderland. This game is perfect.

Will do, though I may hold off on it for a while. I've only played Middens for 40 minutes, but I can already tell that when I'm done with it, I'm going to need a break. Not that it's bad -- far from it -- but just because it's so... unique that I think I'll need a breather before playing something else that's similar to it.

Paradise Blue and Hero's Realm are two pretty rad titles, if you like homages to the original Final Fantasies. Both lovingly put together, in my opinion, especially Paradise Blue. I've sadly been unable to beat Hero's Realm as there seems to be some weird bug with trying to run it in Windows 8 or something. The walking speed gets all messed up and the site's proposed "fix" doesn't seem to work for me.

Hero's Realm is more a homage to Dragon Quest than anything else. It doesn't have the first-person battle system, but that's because the game's using RM2K3, which was the dominant RPGMaker at the time. There's still some Final Fantasy inspiration, such as some of the classes, but the game's more inspired by classic 8 bit RPG's in general, rather than just Final Fantasy.

Can't say anything about Paradise Blue, sadly.

Oh, tip for Middens from what I remember.

1. I think you can glitch the buses out so be careful with those.

2. Fighting everything probably isn't the right idea.

1.Good to know; thanks.

2.I could already tell. When there's a deranged sentient gun urging you on to slaughter everything in sight, I think it's a good idea not to do what the talking instrument of death is telling you to do. Plus, thanks to that handy-dandy exercise skill, you don't actually need to fight on a regular basis, so long as you're patient. Which is all just another point in the game's favor, because there's a feeling that your playstyle actually matters, which isn't something I always feel that much even in WRPG's.
