Legend of Legacy Soundtrack
« on: August 31, 2015, 03:25:23 PM »
I just got this soundtrack and am liking it very much. It has a very Final Fantasy XIII sound as its Hamauzu at the helm. If you enjoyed XIII as much as I did I recommend giving this one a shot. It has very high production value and very strong themes. The music makes me very curious as to what the game is like. I guess we will find out soon.

I am seconding this. The OST is so amazing I decided to give the FF13 soundtrack a listen and Hamauzu is becoming one of my new favorites.

Yeah I feel like he doesn't get the credit he deserves. Too many people dismissed XIII because they either didn't like the game or didn't like it because it wasn't Uematsu. The thematic material is very appropriate and consistent with the game. I can't wait to see how Legend of Legacy fits into the story

Yeah, I totally agree. I listened through the OST several times on my flight to Japan yesterday, and it really does showcase how talented Hamauzu is.
Friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn't matter, but work is third.

I'm still in the minor opinion that FFXII was a bad soundtrack despite my major love for Hitoshi Sakimoto so having him out for the next installment and Hamauzu in made me happy. Honestly, even though the game has so many people against it, the music kind of makes me want to play the game.

A hidden gem of his (or at least, I never see it get talked about anymore) is definitely Blade Master Musashiden II.  Mmm.  Hi and Junya Nakano manage a gorgeous sound that is orchestrated in parts but surprisingly contemporary and ambient/techy in other ways.

As far as the game of FFXIII. I feel that it gets a lot of flack just because it can't live up to people's imagined greatness. I remember the same complaints about FFX who that came out and now all you hear is love. Thirteen told a very concise story with its focus around 6 separate main characters. The one flaw it had was its reliability of the supplemental material not released in the states. It fleshed out the story more and the lore of the world. I have played through it 5 times and enjoy it every time. It does something new with the battles the music is amazing and I love the story and presentation.  I do understand people's gripes with the game but Final Fantasy to me was always about trying something new and taking things in a different direction than the predecessor. I am probably in the minority but I standby my love for the world of Pulse and its music

I know a lot of people love Kenji Ito, but I think Hamauzu's work on the latter SaGa games were the finest OSTs in that series. It's nice to see him working on such a SaGa-inspired game. I can't wait to get my hands on this one next month.

Grabbed the game and playing a bit, beautiful artworks from the SaGa artist Kobayashi :)
Some tracks really makes me feel how Hamauzu can be a genius (when he wants!), most tracks are a bit too atmospheric to remember.
Apparently an international version of the soundtrack is now released:

Not his best work, but still definitely a good soundtrack.
