I wonder if they realize when they do this they just make people frustrated and they end up not getting either collector editions like me.

Generally just equates to someone else with a greater level of patience than yourself scoring one that you may have gotten instead.

Well, I just pre-ordered the base game.  Can't believe it's only a week away already!

Am I seriously the only person who is getting major Dark Cloud 3 vibes from this game?  There should be mega hype here.

(Woot, I managed to bump this thread a day before the 1 year anniversary of Aeolus' last post)

Maybe Dark Cloud 4-ish. Dark Cloud 3 was Rogue Galaxy.

I ordered the Day One edition.

Dark Cloud 3 was Rogue Galaxy.

N..... no....?

EDIT: NNK2 is sitting at 86 on Metacritic right now, with the two lowest scores being 85 and 60.  With that one aberrant 60 removed its average review score is 92.

No Spheda though.

If anything the White Knight Chronicles were the real Dark Cloud 3 with its evil circus opening, over-dependence on the broke ass MMO (and that was before its doors were shuttered), useless females (to the point of knee capping your own custom avatar just in case you decided to play a female), a plot more nonsensical than FE Fates' three game clusterfuck, and paid DLC to change your Giant Robot's color scheme.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

Reviews are all over the place.

Also 30 hours is too short for a jrpg imo. I hope that was just people rushing through it.

Rook's JRPG storytelling rule #1: If you only have enough story for a 30 hour game, make your game 30 hours.

Dark Cloud 2 was the original Golf Story and yes Spheda was so damn fun its the reason why I finished DC2 and stopped RG about 40 hours in.

From what I've been hearing, those times are indeed coming from not putting up with Level 5's bullshit grind.

That said, of the three main timewasters, the two biggest are pretty much lifted straight from Suikoden with a kingdom building sim and Pikmin battles (which sound like they're as meh as anything tactical that Suikoden did, if not even less interesting), while the third sounds like DQIX's Grottoes again.

That said, I wouldn't dive right in quite yet because it seems that Level 5's tendency of including everything down to the kitchen sink is alive and well here, so who knows how deep the grinding rabbit hole really goes or how far can you progress before the microtransactions start rearing its ugly head.

At the very least, it sounds like the Poke/Digi/Whatever-mon mechanics that they had in NNK1 was ditched, and the basic gameplay has been improved over NNK1's (not that 'herding suicidal AI' was a high bar to clear).

The tl;dr is that Level 5 learned something from the trainwreck that was NNK1, but its still too soon to say whether or not this one can jell into a cohesive game or end up buried beneath yet another forgettable pile of Level 5's grinding excrement.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

Ehh.  I still don't regret getting the US collector's edition.  I do admit that this one is a lot nicer and probably correspondingly more expensive.

Under no circumstances should Quentin Tarantino be allowed to befoul Star Trek.

39 Positive, 5 Mixed on metacritic.  "All over the place"?

The reviews I've read stated that it's 30 hours if you do none of the secondary gameplay, so hopefully we should be good on that front.

I mean, for now, I can't see why you should.
