The NEW New Star Wars [s]Trilogy[/s] Thread
« on: December 16, 2015, 07:39:36 AM »
As was suggested in the Movies Episode 2 thread, Star Wars is apparently going to be a yearly release sort of thing and people have begun to see it in theaters, so if you want to talk about spoilers, you can do so here and keep it down to general impressions in the general movie thread, while those of us who were unable to score tickets for any showing until 2016 won't have to be spoilered by you good folks.

So have at, and may the Post be with you.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

I read a review and just by giving some background on the movie it already told me more than I wanted to know.  I really wanted to go in as blind as possible.  *sigh*

I didn't read any of the reviews. I just looked at the rating percentage.

Well don't!  It will ruin everything!*

Either way, I don't get much more excited for things than I am currently for Friday.  Going to be an awesome night.

Early reviews have been favourable so far.  So yay it's not a Phantom Menace case so far it seems.  I definitely think pleasing a large audience will be incredibly difficult.

Anyone else trying to squeeze in the old films before seeing the new one?

Wasn't super initial fan reaction to the Phantom Menace somewhat "favorable"? Outside of the so-called "hardcore" group, I thought I remember a lot of the casual audience actually liking it before it became cool (and correct) not to.

It came out when I was 15 though, so I could be misremembering.

Anyhow, I probably won't see it until January, but I could give a crap about spoilers, so it'll be fun to see what everyone thinks.

You're misremembering.  I watched that movie back in my teens when I thought literally every movie ever was good, and I was bored.

Kids apparently like it, though.  Like 10 year olds.  Not saying "ooh, you're a baby if you like it," just that's my understanding of who honestly liked it.
