The calm thread of relax
« on: January 12, 2017, 02:26:51 AM »
Here is a thread where the rule is you post something gentle and non-confrontational and just kind of affirming and positive, nothing negative!

So, today, for dinner, I had some chicken and I also ate some ice cream bars.

There's been a lagomorph living around the parking lot at work for the last couple months.  This picture is from before the snow fell;  white-on-white is hard to see, and this critter moves fast if I get too close.

My coworker has this as a computer background and it always reminds me of Arni in Chrono Cross, which always seemed like a chill and tranquil place, no matter what.

(I mentioned this in another thread, but when my dad died, the thing that actually kept me the calmest and kept my head right was listening to Slipknot; the song "My Plague" in particular.  Something about the cadence and the tonality kept my keep even.  Go figure, metal and punk are what calm me.)

Mmm, love the campfire.  Only thing about listening to podcasts on my phone is I can't have asoftmurmur.com playing in the background.

I don't know how you guys relax, but anything that bombards my senses is the exact opposite of relaxing. All I need a dark, quiet room, with enough space to move around so I can pace until whatever is bothering me has been locked into the closet in the back of my brain.

Of course, it better have a bed, because by that point, I'm either about to pass out from exhaustion, or have an anuerism.

...Of course, on a normal day, I don't usually need to do much to relax. I just...take a deep breath, maybe drink some water or walk around a bit if I can, but mostlu I just find something else to do until I forget why I was so worked up in the first place. Seems to work for me, but I also come from a family that is terrible at relaxing, so it's been a foreign concept until I started going to therapy.
