So Square Enix has announced the FFVII Remake
Sony finally released The Last Guardian
And now Ubisoft reveals Beyond Good & Evil 2.

Just in case you guys weren't aware we were all transplanted into the Matrix two years ago.

Don't forget about Nintendo actually getting their IPs out to other devs, and Microsoft losing the E3 announcements arms race yet again despite getting out a day early (if I had only known they would break the Monday-a-thon, I would have never gone to that Game Jam; still, it wasn't a total loss as I went to a retrogame store and found a corner of it stacked with XBones in plastic bags much to my bewilderment; turned out the explanation is fucking hilarious).

That being said, highlight of Bubisoft was Miyamoto showing up with yet another goofy prop to push a Mario themed XCOM clone laced with Toilet Humor (and yet they'll still censor the Vagina Bones). Everything else was once again lovely presentation of stuff we either know nothing about or learned entirely too much about (dat Skylander wannabe). At least the South Park humor was on point with The Fractured Butthole. I also felt genuinely uncomfortable about Farcry 5's trailer, because I feel like answering hatred with the glorified violence of a male power fantasy was a little tonedeaf (also because things look differently when coming back from the real world and my immersion broke harder than most E3 trailers would've managed). And of course BG&E2 is a fucking prequel, lol.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

Knack 2 had a fun-looking trailer. Anyone here played the first one?

Matterfall looks pretty cool, too, although I have a bad feeling it might just be fighting waves of enemies in static environments rather than progressing through actual levels, judging from the "survive" bit, and maybe that's what they mean by "classic arcade action"...

You know how people always say stuff like that these companies should stop even talking on stage and just show game trailers?

That seems to be exactly what Sony is doing.

I am honestly impressed.  It's almost overwhelming, I have trouble keeping track of all these game.

I actually thought that Sony's conference was just a bit meh. Good stuff for lots of people, but nothing that really interested me. I did genuinely think they were showing a SotC sequel though with how good a job they did on the remaster.

I just wished that Sony had anything new to actually show. Lot of updates, but nothing "OMG! AMAZING!" (other than the Shadow of Colossus remake).

Also, Butt Rock FFXV Fishing Simulator.

Also also, I totally forgot that this is Occulus Rift, year 2. Time to take us to the VR gulag (Moss looked alright-ish at least).
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

I haveta say, the spiderman game looks very similar to the Batman Arkham series, the combat, the traversal ziplining. Might still get it day 1 though, not that much coming this year that I'm interested in.

No kidding. I have peed my pants no less than five times already. This is nuts. I am seriously out of pants. My mom even called me up earlier, asking if I needed pants. I told her, "no I got plenty." Now I look like a liar. Damnit Sony!

Well in my case Nintendo is my last hope for some good surprises this year. And the good news is they cannot possible fuck up as much as they did with last year's "conference."

Also, Butt Rock FFXV Fishing Simulator.

I am probably the only one whole'll say this, but this is a dream come true. I always wanted a fantasy fishing sim, especially with VR. I used to think about it when I was at Chuck E. Cheeses, playing Sega Bass Fishing. This is a System seller for me. No joke. Top 5 of the conference.

Then again, Skyrim VR is another boyhood dream com true, as is that Spider-Man game and DBZ fighting game, so...I am super duper happy right now.

For me the most interesting thing from Sony's conference was probably the new God of War.  God of War has always had solid gameplay but Kratos as a character was, well...yeah.  This looks like God of War action except starring a more complex, nuanced character.  And maybe more of an adventure element too rather than just straight action?  Escorting the boy around had a slight The Last of Us vibe to it.  I don't know, I'd have to see more gameplay but it's definitely something I'm interested in.

The Shadow of Colossus remake looked amazing but part of me wonders if I really want to buy Shadow of Colossus for a third time...

The new Uncharted was nothing unexpected but it looks solid.  And hopefully moving away from Drake as a main character will help keep it fresh.

The Spiderman game certainly is reminiscent of the Arkham games but that's hardly a bad thing.  Definitely worth a look.

Although I'm not a big fan of the series the new Monster Hunter game seemed interesting enough to at least give some consideration.

Misses for me:

FFXV VR fishing.  Come on, this has to be a joke, right?

Marvel vs. Capcom...story trailer?  Did those games even have stories?

Bend Studio's new game looked pretty and all, but at least the trailer they showed seemed so scripted and QTE-heavy for a moment I thought we were looking at the next Quantic Dream game or something.  Well, I guess we got that later.  But I have real questions about what the gameplay of this game is going to be like.

Hell, they've already won Ubisoft's conference with almost no effort, and now they've got Switch titles to lean on this year (IIRC, in regards to 2016, it was pretty much the year of BotW, considering what we got out of that, I'd say they didn't blow it out of their ass that year; especially in comparison to their true stinkers like '07, '08 or '11; Wii Music anyone or how about "failing to announce FE:Awakening's localization until after they got badgered about it after the fact because their showing got bogged down showing off Paper Mario: Sticker Star"?).

That being said, they did kinda spend themselves back in January (I don't think they had a particularly good E3 showing the last time they pulled something like that back in '13, but then they also dropped ALBW that April so they really left nothing in the canon for E3).

Misses for me:

FFXV VR fishing.  Come on, this has to be a joke, right?

Its as much of a joke as the DLC Monster Truck car attachment to go with the already in-game Car Wings attachment (now if there were only some way to combine the two, and better still, change the body of the car to that of a Winnebago, then we could finally take on the Mega Maid Omega Maid XV bonus boss; "Gentlemen, I believe that FFXV has gone from 'Suck' to 'Blow'.").
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

Square seems to really want to beat every last cent they can out of FF XV (and XIII for that matter). At the cost of their integrity, apparently.

It says a lot when there were more JRPGs at MS's conference than Sony's.
I avoid online multiplayer because my brain still works.

I noticed that, too. More new reveals at Microsoft's conference, too, I think. It'd quite the turn of events if Microsoft somehow had the best showing (not necessarily the best conference, mind you. I even can't say that, since I just watch the trailers afterwards).
