For the first time, I am not all that excited for a Firaxis game.

Sid Meier's Railroads! is the newest game in the Railroad Tycoon series.  We'll see.  Firaxis has always made awesome games, so hopefully it'll be totally sweet despite being based on railroads.

Isn't Mr Meirer's responsibly for that recent Pirate game? sorry for such a noobish question, but is his company a freelance developer? I though the Tycoon series belonged to MS?

There are a lot of Tycoon series. The first was railroad tycoon. Sawyer's Transport Tycoon sort of evolved tangentially to that. Then he made rollercoaster tycoon and suddenly bandwagon.
