Bad: Combat is repetative.
Bad: Camera sucks balls
Good: Everything else.
Period.

Actually, what Dade says is a fair summary of what many people thought of the game, including myself. I'd even go step further and say that any instances involving puzzles were just tedious. The game was at its best in boss battles which were fantastic. The boss battles also were the only thing in the game that really kept me playing it. It's hard to describe how cool it was to face off against many of the classic Disney villains like Hook and Malificent, as well as the occasional SquareSoft character as a boss like Cloud. The cameos and different party members you could have in each world were also pretty cool. Usually you were stuck with Donald and Goofy, though in some of the Disney worlds the hero from that respective world would often join up with you. Like Jack from
The Nightmare Before Christmas
, or, my favorite, the Beast from
Beauty and the Beast
.
The plot itself is fairly simplistic, though it does get more complicated toward the end and has some pretty sweet twists.
It is a good game, not the smashing blockbuster many people make it out to be, but an enjoyable game nonetheless.
As for KH2, well, Ashton liked it...

I dont find the game extraordinary in itself. But, alas, the characters and plot-twists keep it going nicely. I love the game for it, but I hate the repetitiveness (I hate how some of the worlds have been repeated as well).

possible spoiler;

I'm currently playing the game. It's truly awesome. I enjoyed the part with Roxas a lot, and I felt sympathy for this ill-fated character. The way his vacation ended was quite sad.
Now I just started with Sora. Let's hope the story will remain as engrossing as it was with Roxas!

KH was an average game in every aspect, aside from the presentation which was well done, which for some reason became huge fanboy fodder.

Dude, seriously, we're talking about a game with Donald Duck in it. You can't get much cooler than that.

It's really hard not to have a least a few characters you love in KHI/II. Whether it's something you know's coming('Oooh, I get to go to agrabah and get Aladdin') or when a SE character just surprises you out of nowhere.(Which happens more in the 2nd)

or, my favorite, the Beast from Beauty and the Beast.
Much to my surprise Beast's Castle is my favorite world so far. I really liked the story, though oddly enough I imagine I'd probably hate the movie with no heartless for The Beast to smash around and with the story going on for two hours or whatever.
Meanwhile, most disapointing was Port Royal. The condensed story I thought that helped Beast Castle really made things feel way too rushed. Though, back to the original point of characters you can't not love Jack Sparrow being in your party.

Back to the original question of what problems KH1 has, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the gummy ship...

The Beauty and the Beast world was pretty awesome. I like the Olympus Coliseum and have the defeated the fourth secret tournament. The semifinal match in that part of the game was insane and you be put near death.
