I've read my fair share of manga, and the question has tossed around in my mind of, "What the hell am I looking at?"  Regardless of the jokes, and April fools, you can't tell me that the stuff doesn't border some pretty sick things.
Ah well, at least they look cute and are put in hilarious circumstances. =P

That really depends on what you're reading. Sure, if you're reading guro manga you will see some pretty sick things, but just as there are different genres of books and movies are there different genres of manga and anime. Saying that some manga is sick is the same as saying some movies are sick.   Manga is such a wide and all-encompassing term that you really can't make such generalisations.

I see what you mean, but I can't help but relate to the manbga shown on the CNN-link.  Negima is borderline child-pornography, but it doesn't really count since it is merely cartoon.  Negima is basically about a kid wizard assigned to teach young high-school girls, but throw in some Ken Akamatsu story telling, and you get your nudity and all the girls end up loving their 10 year old teacher.

I do like Ken Akamatsu (Love Hina was fun and funny), Negima, though it does throw in some fun, you can't help but feel wrong for reading it. =P

Mind you, this is one example, but a text-book example.

One anime I watched recently had incest, rape, cannibalism, and necrophilia, among other things.  And no, it wasn't hentai.  God bless the Japanese.  Luckily, since it isn't called Grand Theft Auto, I doubt anyone in a position of power who'd be overly sensitive about it would give a darn. :p

I agree with Ashy-Kun.  I mean, Jesus.  Obviously Graveyard Zombie Rape Bonanza by Gorerotted isn't anything compared to guro.  Or goro.  Or guru.  Or whatever it is.  Anyway, my point is that Gore Metal about raping dead children is acceptable while Card Captor Sakura is the Devil's anime.

IMO, foreign horrors are much better than stateside.

And Leyviur, I'm just talking in personal tastes.  Like I said, I'm not some soccer-mom who is going to form some bullshit commitee and argue with parliament.  Frankly, I'd be pissed off if any content (in this case, anime) was banned because its inappropriate.  THe whole "artists should be free to express themselves", and hell, if it pays the bills, then more power to them.
