Not surprised by the choices, especially for Mega Man 1 (though it's just  a brief mention). Tomb Raider is a bad cover though? I thought it was alright honestly.

Some I never seen before, but they are certainly funny.

I think the Phalanx box art is pretty tight actually. It doesn't take itself too seriously, I like that.

One that should have gotten honorable mention is the US box art for Shinobi: Shadow Dancer on the Genesis. It's such a bad painting you can't even tell what's supposed to happening. Truly abominable.

Yea, most of the covers were pretty bad. But what was even worse were those "oh so snide" and funny comments made by the article's author, one Scott Sharkey. None of them were funny; they were just as pathetic as any of the game covers he was talking about.

I've noticed a common theme... real people portraying super heroes.  Maybe thats why cosplay is commonly mocked.
