Got it. Thanks for the clarifications...
Words like "mature" and "hardcore" are very ambigious these days. One one hand they can mean sophisticated, and dedicated. On the other hand they can mean, raunchy, and... well... raunchy.
I mean, what is a "Hardcore gamer"?
Is it a gamer whose into pedeophilic beastiality... I mean, that's hardcore. Or are they gamers who are dedicated to the genre and spend a lot of time researching and thinking about what they play... that's also hardcore.
Interestingly, in contemporary culture, the pedeophilic beastiliaty types are more likely to be respected... which is why I'm into pedeophilic beastility, of course.

Pedophilic bestiality isn't a game yet.
Hopefully EA games isn't reading this.

The word "hardcore" gamer is just stupid.
It's never used for other hobbies....how many times do you hear someone say "I'm a hardcore artist" or "I'm a hardcore stamp collector"?

I'm pretty sure it is, though I can't name any exact examples (hardcore comic fan? Makes sense to me). It's better than otaku anyway.

I see where you're coming from...I just meant that most other people don't talk about their hobbies as being "hardcore" though.
They either enjoy that hobby or they don't. I notice alot of comic collectors call themselves "long term" rather than hardcore...which I think is a better name, to be honest.

Maybe I'm the only one seeing this so maybe I'm just imagining it, but CT and CC seem to have themes of, eh, lost childhood, sort of? Or maybe misspent youth/misspent opportunities. Dunno. Anyone get what I'm saying?

Really? I don't see it. In fact, most games tend to have some of that theme in there, and CT/CC are two games that I don't really see that at all. The main characters all have loving parents, and grew up as fairly normal children. Similar goes for Lunar.
Now, every Final Fantasy game, on the other hand... there's your misplaced childhood (hehehe, just made Marillion reference... cool)

There aren't any. CT, the only parents that were involved in the plot were Taban, Queen Zeal, and the Guardia King and Queen.
All of the children grew up without problems.

I don't know. You could always make the case for it; there's enough evidence involving Kidd to make the claim that, due to her importance to the overall plot, having your past ripped out from under you has some sort of significance.
