SOTM is the entire album "Blau" by Eir Aoi.  So freaking GOOD!!!  It's totally my kind of J-Pop.

Katatonia - Omerta

Katonia's new acoustic album/Blu-Ray is excellent.

Been on a bit of a Throwdown kick.  Haymaker is a great album.  "False Idols" is my favorite song off of it.

Been rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the girlfriend (can you believe she's never seen it?) and Cibo Matto was playing at the Bronze during an ep in the first season.  I'd completely forgotten how much I love them.

I mostly listen to euro-metal acts so I've been expanding my horizons with other international metal bands after my recent trip to Asia. Found two cool bands this week. I'm picking my favorite track for each band:

Onmyo-Za 陰陽座 (Japan)
16th Single, which was announced on March 19, 2014 from "crescent of blue sky". Title song "crescent of blue sky" is (Full Size).

Jambinai 잠비나이 (South Korea)
From the album "[차연(差延), Différance]" (2014 Remastered). Motion Video directed by Hyunjeong Shin.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56dv3XHUISY - Live performance. Slow build up with one instrument and ends with several. So many feels with this song.

Enslaved - One Thousand Years of Rain

The new Enslaved album doesn't ring all my bells like "RITTIR" did, but I definitely put this song up there as one of their best.

Anyone who's played in a gigging/touring band can easily relate to this song:

mewithoutYou's sixth album, "Pale Horses," comes soon. Be ready for a post-hardcore East Coast apocalypse.

They released the first single today, "Red Cow."

It's amazing and a half.

Mystery Skulls - Money

I'm starting to get into this band. I also listened to "Forever" and "Ghost", which I think is on the same album, both of which are fantastic songs. Money isn't quite as good musically, but I will admit that it has a nice beat and my favorite lyrics out of the whole album (which I didn't realize at first. I didn't quite catch some of the wording, but it's more about worrying about money and other anxieties, which is a nice change of pace for Mystery Skulls)

No wait, Money is on the EP. Which has "Amazing" and other amazing tracks. Really starting to like these guys. Forever, the only studio album they have out right now, only has one track I genuinely disliked. A few others had lyrics that didn't sit well with me, but musically they were still really good.

You need Band-Maid in your life.  Seriously.  They rock.  What's great about them is that if you take away their gimmicks, they're a very skilled and talented band.  That bass breakdown at 2:25 POUNDS!

The "Dogman" album by King's X.  All of it.  I've been listening to this album a lot lately and it is so good.

Here's "Pillow" from it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ2F9xlxwy0
