Okay, haven't had much time to play so I'm really at the beginning, but I'm stuck.... in the Giza Plains. I'm looking for Jinn and can't get to the location due to two monsters at the extreme south area that kill me with one. Hit. What do I need to do here? Something with those dark crystals? Thanks.

You don't need to go past the werewolves, head east of there.

I have to say, this is probably like in the top 3 favorite FF.  Its just got such a great world, pretty fun battle system, I love being able to PICK YOUR OWN WEAPON.  I mean, being able to choose from Crossbows, Katana, Ninja Sword, Rods, Staffs, Poles, Swords, Knightswords, on and on, its just great.  Kinda sucks though, since your not sure exactly what each does, in terms of benefits and such, but still, fun stuffs.

From what I can tell about weapons there are benefits for each weapons.

1 Handed Swords - Good attack speed, and damage. (Bests weapon for a tank)

2 Handed Swords - Very high damage, but slow attack speed.

Guns - Weak on the damage, but it can't be blocked or parried. Has a high critical rate.

Bows - Execellant Ranged Damage, kinda lacking on the critical hits.

Katana - Combo's galore with good damage.. I know there is a combo using the Genji Gloves, Bravery, Haste, and Berserk thats allows for a 10 hit combo everytime.

Ninja Swords - Quick attack speed, good dmg. Heals undead.

Crossbows - ?? never used them.

Staffs - Better for black mages, higher attack/magic power than rods.

Rods - Better for white mages, more mp gained, less attack power.

Measures - Also good for white mages, low damage and require you to attack allies to be benefical.

Hand Bombs -  Really slow, but huge aoe damage.

The elemental staves in particular should be noted as they give a HUGE boost to spell power of the matching element. They're a must if you want to make a good magic attacker.

wow i get the game and already 6 hours in im just got to that huge mansion  that are full in guarders that catch me each time but it really seems good and the story look great unlike the "drama for teen" feel that ffx has. the battle system is fun and not even near to the "this game is automatic" as some reviews says and i own was think....
the only minos is that most of the enemys reach to you even not matter how you far from them

The story is pretty much FFT has Sex with FF6, then infused with jenova cells to create ff12. I just beat it today. Splendid game. You'll all enjoy it.

Now that I'm reading things in English...

Wow. Just plain wow. It was good just visually in Japanese, but the localisation is impressive. It brings in a whole level of sophistication I don't think we've seen since the good old SNES days of Final Fantasy. Even little touches, like having the Bhujerban people speak with some Sanskrit (Svagatam, Bhadra, etc) brings the world that much closer to being something real. Goodbye teenie pop worlds, helloooo high adventure.

Best. FF. Ever.

I didn't realise the sayings they used was an actual language.  That is pretty cool.  How familiar are you with Sanskrit?  I wonder if the Japanese version had something similar for the Bhujerbans.

Familiar enough that I know common and religious terms. Svagatam is Welcome, Bhadra is Friend or Good Sir/Madam, and... Well, Sainikah shouldn't have an "H" since it isn't pronounced with an outbreath like that, but close enough. Sainika is "guard" and Parijanah is "informant".

Being that it's my favourite language, I was all "WHOO!"

Dunno what they did for the Japanese. There was a fair bit of katakana in Bhujerba when it came to the townsfolk, but I was kinda racing through text so I didn't pay enough attention to see if it was the same thing or not.

Okay, what the hell am I supposed to do with the Sluice Gates in Waterways in Rabanastre? I got the key for them after defeating that one Mark, but I've yet to figure out what good opening and closing the gates do. I have that letter you receive after defeating an earlier Mark, but that's not much help.

After 1 month and a half I've finally beaten the game. The ending sequence is insanely spectacular, I was jaw dropped when I watched it. Nice conclusion with the storyline too.

FFXII should definitely be your next RPG if you haven't played it yet.

Now I canít wait to play FFXIII even more, mostly if the battle system is in the same direction.

My score: 9/10

Here is what to do at the sluice gate and how to beat Cuchulainn, the Impure.

Code:
Ok. This is what you do as the sluice gate in order to fight Cuchulainn.

1. Close gates No. 3 and No. 10.
2. Enter path No. 3 gate, follow the path to the end and use the waterway control.
3. Return to the center, open gates No. 3 and No. 10.
4. Close gates No. 4 and No. 11.
5. Enter the No. 4 gate, follow the path and use the waterway control again.
6. Return to the center, then open up No. 11 and Close No. 3.
7. Enter the number 1 gate a follow the path towards Cuchulainn.

Cuchulainn is a very hard boss if you not over lvl 55 or lvl 60. (But still beatable at lower levels) These are the gambits I used when I fought him.

These are for my characters adjust them to whomever you use.

Vann

Ally Any: Raise

Foe Lowest HP: Firaga

Foe Hightest HP: Dispel

Ally HP = 50%: Curaja
Ally HP = 60% Ensuna

I beat the white chocobo first time I tried in my 30s, but mostly just because he likes to run away for no reason and let me recover. I did think I was screwed when he got low health

Code:
and went phyical immune since every spell I threw at him healed him. Found out bio worked fortunantly and sloooowly wore him down casting it on the rare occasions I wasn't busy just strugling to stay alive.

Tough as hell fight.

I seriously started playing Final Fantasy 12, and so far, it's pretty good. However, the camera angles give me a headache sometimes. I think I can get used to the Active Dimension Battle system over time. The areas really give you a sense of perspective when walking around them, as they're gigantic places.
