God damn it. The game's been out five fucking days and I already had it spoiled for me by some asshole. I hate the internet.

Yeah they are called Mist Knacks I think.

Blegh I'm gonna stop playing FFXII, I'm getting my ass kicked by Bangaas in a mine. I'll wait for the US release, then I will have less problem playing when I actually understand what to do and I this way it will still be a surprise.

Yes FFXII is frickin awesome, but new games are out soon, Suikoden V and Kingdom Hearts 2, gonna play those and some other games I missed during my ps2-hiatus last year.

You're supposed to run away from them, not fight.

Ash, one thing you might want to consider is posting some key things that happen in the game as you go. It'll help the rest of us whose understanding of kanji is in the shitter. ^^

Anyway, I concur so far: This game is the win.

I really only have one thing to say regarding this game.

It beats out all the other Final Fantasies thus far.

Fuck you if you don't concur. :P

I agree.  Best Final Fantasy since the 16-bit installments.  If you disagree, you are wrong. :P

Is it still heavily scripted like ff8 with lots of missable crap/items etc? That always irritated me about the FF games.

Missable items as in what?

I mean obviously if you don't keep a lookout and do extra stuff you're gonna miss a whole lot, but that goes for anything. The script is pretty tight, tighter than most in fact and I prefer it that way. But it's not hugely linear. There's sidequests to take on and you can just wander around town at points if you prefer, rather than taking up the next part of the story.

I'm going to guess that he means things like dungeons you can't re-enter or towns/cities that get destroyed before you completely loot them. Some of the Materia in FFVII fell under that at least.

Oh, well obviously that's going to exist. :P This is Final Fantasy for crying out loud. Not a deal breaker though. Most places you visit you can go back to.

Always been a deal breaker for me. One of the biggest reasons why I don't like FF games...7-9 fall into this category heavily.

As opposed to FF6 where the entire /world/ changed and you couldn't get some stuff? :P C'mon dude. That's just being stupid. Seriously, I'm having a hard time thinking of an RPG where shit doesn't get closed off to you. Except for like, Diablo.
