As I was repairing the 51 different error messages I got from my most recent UI redesign, it hit me: since I'm overhauling everything, why not see what my board people are using these days? I might find something I want to use myself, and some folks might want to use the things I use.
Here's my current setup, post-deletion of the addon that fucked me up:
http://www.rpgfan.com/userdirs/dr/uiredesignfourpointone.jpgI know that looks like a lot of shit, but it isn't really. Nearly everything you see there is the result of three addons: ag_Unitframes, Bartender3, and Skinner.
ag_Unitframes provides...well, the unit frames. :P Bartender3 let me squeeze all my paladinness down there in the middle of the bottom part of the screen. Skinner does a lot of different shit, but its primary use is to give me that translucent texture at the bottom so I can read shit a little more easily.
The buff bars are called Elkano's Buff Bars. The chat/combat log windows are a combination of Prat and ClearFont2. The moveable minimap comes from an addon called Squeenix, which was obviously created by an otaku. Another key is the addon Geist, which lets me bind a key to pop up twenty or so additional buttons that have my food, water, potions, etc. Saves me a lot of space.
I used to have shit covering the entire bottom and both sides. With this new layout, I have a hell of a lot more visual clarity than I did in the past. Of course, there's always room for improvement. :P
