ATI cards and widescreen monitors

I have a widescreen LCD monitor that, in itself, doesn't have any options for scaling while maintaining an aspect ratio.
Basically, I want to play older PC games requiring a 4:3 aspect ratio, and I want black bars to appear on the sides of my widescreen so I don't get a fattened image.
So far, I've found that nVidia cards have had an option to do this for years, yet I can't seem to find an option in the ATI Catalyst control center.
I've got an X800 series ATI GTO2, PCI-e (256mb).
Does anyone know of any software that could perhaps handle this for me? Am I just blind to the option in ATI Catalyst?

Trust me, there's no option to do it in Catalyst. I scoured the internet looking for a way to do this after I got my new ATI card, and it plain fucking doesn't exist. Fallout is a stretched-out piece of shit these days because of it. :(
