Man, I picked the wrong time to go on an eBay binge. I've already got four games waiting in line to be played before this, so Persona 3 will have to wait a bit.

That said, I can't freakin' wait for it to be released. I know absolutely nothing about the Persona series, but having played a few other games in the SMT series, I definately have high hopes for P3. After reading those reviews, it's great to see that it's getting some love!

I like not having my pages fall out, thanks.

You're welcome?

The art book is only for the people that pre ordered anyways. I feel honored that Atlus cares enough about the hardcore fans.

Nice to see the reviews that both editors found it good enough to give it an editor's choice award.

I'm looking forward to it.  The whole life-sim thing always sounded awesome.  I read import impressions on it a long time ago so I already know about the "bad things in the battle system" (if you want to call them bad, which I don't).

The delay is kind of a big concern to me.  Right now my apartment lease ends in the beginning of august.  I can't move into my next apartment till the semester starts (3 full weeks of no where to live).  Therefore I must live at home.  We have dial-up at home so no WoW most likely.  I don't really have any other games at the moment so I was planning on sitting down and beating persona 3 within the 3 week period, which I have not done for a long, long time.  If I have to cut it down to 2 weeks play period due to the delay, then so be it.  I hope it's nothing more than that, because otherwise I'll be very bored.

edit:  For someone who reviewed this game, how easy is the "easy" setting? (comparatively speaking)

The thanks was sarcastic. If anyone deserved thanks, it'd obviously be Atlus. And /all/ copies come with the artbook and CD. This is no pre-order bonus.

I know. I was slightly being sarcastic as well. :P

I didn't know that. I thought it was a bonus for preorders only. Good deal.

Extremely easy.  The "normal" setting is /already/ pretty easy.  Persona 3 is not Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne in difficulty, so for those that are worried that they will be bent over time and time again, fear not.  If you maintain a solid roster of personae at all times (as in, you can exploit all possible physical/elemental weaknesses of the enemies/bosses, and you use them in that manner skillfully) then the game is a cake walk.  The "optional boss," on the other hand... good luck, haha.

Long time no see indeed, Dade. ;)  Hope you like P3... I liked it enough to crawl out of my cave and write about it.  Living in Japan has significantly detracted from the amount of time I spend behind the computer monitor, lol.

I don't like hearing this. SMT3 to me was like, what I'd consider a very solid, middle difficulty. That makes Persona 3 sound really easy.

He DID play the original admittedly, not the updated version we got as SMT:N. I hear it's normal difficulty is easier, and the hard mode harder. I wouldn't be surprised if P3's easier, but it's probably not by a lot, and when the rest of my teammates are controlled by AI I'd REALLY prefer it to err on the side of being easy, moreso than normal.

I played on normal and it's fairly easy because it can be quite easy to exploit enemy weakness. The challenging parts come from bosses in the towere where a few have no weakness or they really hit hard.

It doesn't seem the easier difficulty for a Megaten game will detract too much from the enjoyment of the game, if you ask me. From what I've read so far, it just seems like it's not too easy, or not too retardedly hard.

My bad, Eusis is correct; I forgot that the domestic release of SMT3: Nocturne had toned-down difficulty compared to the import.  The Japanese version was a real beast.  Perhaps P3 and Nocturne US are on-par with one another, then?  I never play domestic releases at all, only imports, so y'all would be better judges of the difficulty (compared to Nocturne US) than I.

Before anyone acts like an idiot and screams about Atlus toning stuff down for wimpy Americans: That was how it was toned down in the Maniacs release, and we simply got that with no further rebalancing. Given the extras of the Maniacs version, I'd say the exchange was worth it.

Yeah, I probably should have said "The /original/ Japanese version was a real beast," lol.  Sorry for the confusion.

I do think Nocturne's difficulty, in the states, was exagerated. This would've been back before I suicided my gamefaqs account with horseporn and wotwot, but I distinctly remember people being really confused that using lightning attacks on an enemy that absorbed lightning damage was not, in fact, a good idea.
