Explosions in the Sky - Memorial

Niiiice. That whole album is beautiful.

Guster - Diane

I remember when I used to listen to Keep it Together constantly. Now that I've rediscovered it, I find it's still an album full of really great songs and I think it's just as good as when I fist listened to it.

Diane's a really nice opener. It has a cool, laid back groove to it and, as usual for a Guster song, some beautiful hooks.

Martyr - Perpetual Healing (Infinite Pain)

Fucking awesome.  Chuck Schuldiner is rolling in his grave cause he couldn't match Daniel Mongrain if he was still alive.  :P

Explosions in the Sky - The Moon is Down

'Those Who Tell the Truth...' is definitely their best album.

My song of the moment is a conceptual one.  I was riding in the car with some friends the other night en route to a punk show in Philly and "Twist and Shout" played on the radio.  Then a couple of songs later, "La Bamba" played.  And we all thought that a high-energy punk cover tune combining both "Twist and Shout" and "La Bamba" would be pretty badass.  I mean, they have almost the exact same chord progressions but are also unique, catchy, and awesome songs.

There's this lines in "Come Down Stairs and Say Hello"

To tell you the truth I've said it before tomorrow I start in a new
direction
I know I've been half asleep I'm never doing that again

That's really how I was feeling when the album came out. 15, sophomore year of HS, not really knowing WHAT I was planning on doing, and feeling like I was wasting time. Summer had just ended and I'd just gotten back from DC and was with a headache in a rainy town I used to call home. Listened to the album a lot. Really wanted to change or something or be more active and stop watching time fly by.

Now I'm a sophomore in college (really, had the rank since last spring, but this is year two) and, let's see... Second half of my senior year of HS, most of my junior year, first semester of college... Nothing worth remembering which I guess is good because I don't really remember it anymore.

Anyway.

This really really lovely live version of J. Newsom - Cosmia with a singing saw and wahtnot.

And, of course, suite judy blue eyes.

I think I'm the only one whose favorite album is The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place.

Not quite! Both my sister and housemate like The Earth... best. I do enjoy it a lot, but Those Who Tell the Truth... just seems more inspired and interesting to me.

I really, really like The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place. I haven't gotten through enough of Those Who Tell the Truth to properly rate it, though.
