No Way could I ever watch all those movies back to back. Extended versions or otherwise. That's one hell of a time commitment, even if I DID have it to spare. I love those movies, but they just wallop me emotionally. Like Cast said, they are exhausting to watch even when not in marathon form. I DO still need to show my son parts 2 and 3. We watched Fellowship a long time ago, and never got around to watching the others.
last night:
Death Proof
- This was just weird. For one, it actually felt like 2 small movies played back to back, with the only thing holding them together being Stuntman Mike. It was an odd transition. The first half was better than the second by far. And not just because yummilicious Rose McGowan was in it.
Both parts dragged on for WAY too long. I as expecting more of the movie(s) to be about the girls being hunted down my a madman in a car, but instead we get endless exposition. Endless drinking which you would think would result in death by alcohol poisoning to all involved.
The second half was just plain awful. For one, i just can't stand Zoe Bell. She's a terrible actress. Then we have the crazy, cursing, obnoxious black girl, who just would not shut up. Plus, the way things go down towards the end are just so beyond belief. I understand it's supposed to be a take a weird 70's movies, but I was just shaking my head and waiting for it to end. Totally stupid.
Overall, this was a waste of time. I should have been playing Zelda.

I love lightheartedly making fun or quoting LoTR in real life.
When my buddy would come over I'd step outside to great him like sauroman did w/ gandalf:
"Smoke rises once more from the mountain
of doom...the shadow takes shape in the
darkness of Mordor; the hour grows
late...and Gandalf the Grey rides to
Isengard seeking my counsel"
And of course whenever potatoes are consumed in front of me it "what's taters precrious, eh?"
I'm such a card!

After spelling precious like that, I'm mildly inclined to agree. Nyucknyuck

Recently watched Plan 9 From Outer Space. It's been a few years and it's still hilarious. I simply have to watch Ed Wood again now.

I've marathoned the LOTR movies, I think more than once, even. Love those films.
Also, easiest exploitable quote from LOTR is obviously "And my _____!" Preferably you do it before stealing someone's electric guitar.
Puss in Boots. I liked it.
Shelock Holmes. 'Twas okay.

"You shall not pass!" is my most quoted LoTR quote. Every single time I'm in somebody way's or at the door. :P
The marathon is definitely a morning-to-night deal. I couldn't have done an all-nighter, it would have been too tiring.
Saw "A Dangerous Method" today. It was alright... lacking, I think.

The only marathon type thing I ever did was 15 hours of Star Trek: TNG about 12 years ago. They weren't even "good" episodes, but the theme was each episode had a celebrity guest star like Ashley Judd or whatever.

I'm considering a Star Wars marathon in the summer but just thinking about the hours is killing me. D:
Saw "12 Angry Men" and "Midnight in Paris" yesterday. Loved them both. First time seeing the latter-- made me want to visit Paris.

Recently saw Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. 100% silly, turning off one's brain required for viewing. Disappointing unless you're watching it to see Nicolas Cage go bat****. The cuts and editing make it pretty easy to see that it's the same director as Crank 1 and 2.

My favorite part in the LotR trilogy is:
"That, my friends, is a pint!"
*excited* "I'm gettin' one!"

I kinda liked it when Sam was drowning, too. Because he was drowning.
; - )
Black Snake Moan
- Another inconsistent movie. Maybe my standards are just too high, but I'm getting tired of being let down by movie after movie. The best part about this movie is Samuel Jackson, who actually acts here, and doesn't just play himself. His character, and his story is interesting. Too bad the rest of the people are around to much it up. Christina Ricci is fine here, i guess, but I just couldn't get over how freaky skinny she is. Like 90#'s dripping wet skinny. They show men all staring and drooling over her, and I just wasn't buying. For one, she looks like and acts like a total crackwhore, which I give here credit for. She's good at it. But I'm just not buying that there are that many men who go for this type of chick. I'm guess I'm just naive(hopeful?) that way.
Then Just Timberlake shows up to pretty much ruin the movie. he sucks here. Big time. Any scene with him is almost hard to watch. Good thing he's gotten better at this acting since then.
Overall it's a simply, cliche tale of 2 opposites coming together and learning from each other. Kinda boring, really, and it drags on WAY too long.
