Just watched "The Prestige". Wow, that device.....I want one.

You need to ask David Bowie for one.

If you ever meet him, you have to take me.

For reasons.

David Bowie.....god he's awesome. I'd let him slap my baby. After seeing his cameo in Zoolander (the only movie I liked Will Ferrell in, and one of a handful of times Ben Stiller doesn't get on my nerves), David Bowie became one of my favorite people from England. Plus that song from labyrinth is catchy as shit.

You like him because of a brief cameo and not the legendary music career in which he probably slept with Mick Jager?

Whatever gets them into the cult of Bowie.

I liked him before that, but only because of the songs heroes and space oddity.

I loved Tangled.  I hated Wreck-it-Ralph (and I think I'm the only person who does).

I oddly like the new look of the new heroine, even if....well:

I've noticed he plays "the good-guy husband" a lot of the time to either messed up/cheating wives.

John C. Reily is a terrible actor.

Die Hard 2 was on today. God I loved that movie.

Lol. Its amusing how they toned down her look despite her character being built on the classic princess in the tower trope, yet they went in the opposite direction for the lead of Brave despite her character being built on the idea of not conforming to the stereotype for archaic reasons.

Argo -
Why am I watching so many "true" stories lately? And why have they been so darn good? Definitely helping to take away my fear of watching them. This was fantastic. Great storytelling, Thrilling pace that ratchets the tension up super high. Perfect acting all around. Even Ben Affleck, who's never done much for me as an actor, played his role suitably calm and composed with an undercurrent of fear. It's actually quite astounding that this is really how it all went down. The whole production crew farce was ingenious. The only thing I doubt is how the final minutes played out. I'm sure it was "Hollywoodized" to make it a bit more thrilling than it actually was. Made for a damn fine movie, though, so as long as the result wasn't fudged, I can accept that. Definitely worthy of best picture.

I also finally saw Blazing Saddles. Fun movie overall, with a few parts that didn't quite work for me.

In the Name of the Father -
I know nothing about the never ending conflict involving the IRA, England, and whoever else is(was?) involved. This movie helped rectify that a tad, but the real story here is the father son dynamic. Both Daniel Day-Lewis and Pete Postlethwaite are amazing in these roles. What they are put through over the course of many years is heartbreaking. Even after the truth comes out! The movie really makes the British police force look bad, although I imagine the things they do, and get away with, are very much based in truth. Desperate people do desperate, and often inhumane, things. Emma Thompson is her usual amazing self here. Her final plea to the judge and jury was so emotional and stirring. This is a great film. It's also a true story, which makes it all the more poignant. I'm on a hot streak with "true" story movies. I should probably quit while I'm ahead.
