Cloverfield was good shit. I agree with the "WTF that's it?" and think it would have been beneficial if they had a military report of some sort explaining what happened after, but it was still a good ride.

One of the commercials spoiled it for me:
Code:
at the end of one of the commercials they show the helicopter spinning out of control. Granted, they say that the tape was found in Central Park at the beginning of the movie, but you forget about that by the end.

I disagree with this. The
Code:
"help us" and "it's still alive"
after the credits ended things quite nicely I thought.

I'm so happy a movie finally went without explaining everything to death. It's nice as an audience to finally not be treated like a six year old.

Plus the story's not over! :o

Just got back from Cloverfield. I thought it was great but good Lord, how I wanted to fucking strangle those drunk assholes right in back of me who kept talking to each other/on their cell phones and kicking my seat and shit. I swear to God, this shit always happens to me.

Also, WTF, Cloverfield had a scene after the credits, too? Who fucking stays in the theater to watch the credits roll? What is this, Japan (where they actually do do that, for some odd reason)?

Lots of movies do this, so I generally prefer to just stay around when I go out. I'm guessing the Japanese caught onto this, unless this is meant to be respectful.

I am Legend. I loved it. I'm not sure how it came to pass, but Will Smith can act and totally sold it for me. And..

Code:
While you know full well what's going to happen to the dog before the movie even starts, it still made me want to cry like a girl.

I watched "Freaked" very late Saturday night and it was just as messed up and stupid as I remember. It's still pretty fucking great though.

Also, I watched "Hot Rod" last night.  Stupid and cheesey but it made me laugh a few times.

I bought Casino Royale on Blu-Ray and, having never seen it before, was in for quite a treat. I really, really enjoyed it. Plenty of action, lots of twists and turns, and though it did slow down a bit towards the end, it finished with a satisfactory bang.

The one thing I didn't like:
Code:
James Bond does not fall in love. That's the number one rule for James Bond movies. I don't care that it was supposed to take place when he was a new 00 agent, the love plot slowed down the movie entirely too much. Sure, he's allowed to get the girl, but he can't fall in love.

That was probably the most rewarding part of the whole film. I never thought I'd see someone rag on a film for having complex characterization. Casino Royale was really in most ways a huge backlash against the bloated swagger of the previous films. Think about it, tie down a sexist icon and smash his genitals, what does that represent.

R...Rambo 4. It was so ultra-violent that it almost seemed like a parody on violence. What a crappy movie, but a fun way to blow off an hour and a half.

Full Metal Jacket - Never saw this until Sat. night. Decent movie. Didn't really get to know much about the characters so the second half was kinda hard to get into. Or was that the whole point? Never know with Kubrick.

The Host - Korean monster movie. I wonder if this was supposed to be scary, because it most certainly was not. It WAS entertaining, though, despite numerous nonsensical moments.

I guess it depends if you like that slower style of sci-fi. There's a reason all my friends hate 2001: A Space Odyssey :P

Sunshine grows on me each time I watch it, I just hate when it turns into a slasher film toward the end.

Just watched The Game last night. I forgot pretty much everything that built up to the ending (the only part I remember), so I didn't mind watching it again. Good stuff.

Random movie recommendation: Mr Brooks. Fuckin awesome movie.
