This FPS/RPG hardly has any RPG elements.
And in one sentence, every ounce of interest I had in this game is vaporized.

Methinks you're giving the words of an internet attention whore a bit too much weight.

Seriously?
That's pretty sad, man.

Yes, because not being quite RPG-y enough instantly makes a game unfun and worth skipping over, despite being ranked 7/8 in GameRanking's list of highest rated games of all time (or at least since there were a serious quantity of internet reviews) and still having enough to not be just another mindless shooter. It is true, SS2's stronger, you can increase stats beyond health/eve which you're limited to in Bioshock and you have an actual inventory you can go through and worry about managing it, but you still have stuff like equipping tonics for special abilities and ability boosts and the like.
In fact, the only time I saw someone flat out drop the game was because he felt it was too easy with the Vita-chamber, and he's a bitch anyway. :P

Well, if you are only interested in it because of the RPG elements, and find out there really aren't many, I can see how that would make you not interested. If you're at all interested in FPSs as well, then the game's probably still worth playing, but if you don't really like them, then the lack of some other draw would probably stop you from wanting to play.

I don't really like FPS's at all (aside from multiplayer), and I'm enjoying BioShock quite a bit. It's definitely worth a try, even if you're not into the genre.

ditto.
Related to the original article, however, I *DO* think that System Shock 2 may be considered a superior title. I haven't nearly finished BioShock, and technically I never beat SS2 either ... but initial impressions of each make me think that SS2 had the upper hand, at least for its time, and at least for the critically-minded gamer.
But, I might just be too jaded now, as I was a very excitable little guy back in the days of SS2.

Depending on what you want, you're probably right. Even though the games are very similar Bioshock's definitely more friendly for people to get into and exchanges stuff like inventory management for the traditional FPS weapons system. Also, while Bioshock had it's moments SS2 was pretty damn scary.
