And that the system should be your cable box.

Well, with the PS3 being the epitome of "epic fail," perhaps Sony will try to jump on this. Could you imagine if EA chose to endorse a single system and release all titles exclusively for it?

I'd picture either A: the end of consoles as we know it, or B: a gamer revolt, and EA goes out of business because everyone stops buying their games.

B wouldn't happen. EA games sell. I have no idea why, but they do.

I realize EA has a few gems scattered about, but most of their games are trash.

A is more likely. Though I can't see a unified console ever happening- at least not as long as the industry has as competitive a mindset as it has now.

remember when ea used to actually make games instead of just buying other companies to do it for them

i bet they'll try buying consoles next, in which case i'll have to give up on gaming entirely and rely on my only other hobby:

I thought the original point of EA was to publish games for guys who'd get ignored otherwise? So, if we're really lucky, they're gradually crawling back to what they were originally meant to do. Though you might be right too since it wasn't like games needed giant development houses back then.

I read a few years ago that EA had their fingers in 6 out of every 7 games released. As far as I know, that number hasn't gone down. They release a bunch of games themselves, and because of the companies they've purchased, they have a lot of engine-type software that other companies license to reduce their development costs.

EA, for better or worse (and I know most gamers would say worse), is a superpower in the gaming industry.  If they said they were creating their own console, I wouldn't be surprised at all.  I'd be disappointed and think it was stupid, but I wouldn't be surprised.

...Market competition.

God damn it EA, you're a business, you know how things go.

I wouldn't be surprised if it sold.

Regrettably.

HA! Take off those rose tinted glasses because you forgot about every Strike game starting with Urban Strike and after.

"Epic fail" was an exaggeration, but their September sales were pretty low. If I remember right, PS3 didn't even outsell GBA by a large margin.
