That's it, I'm dragging up Persona 1 again. There's a greater chance one played Shenmue, but I think there's a greater chance one gave a crap about beating P1. :P

Also (I should note this isn't directed at the person who brought it up) I'd have to punch anyone in the face who was upset at a lack of CGI FMVs or whatever in SoArc. ZOMG IT DOESN'T HAVE 7 HOURS OF VOICE ACTING AND ACTED OUT CINEMATIC SCENES!!! Get bent, SoArc was a predecessor to that stuff and besides, voice acting and potentially awkward cutscenes do not automatically equal good or essential.

Yeah, Prime, Lucia gets naked at the begining of the non remake of Eternal Blue.  When I was, like, 12 and playing it in the living room, my mom yelled at me for looking at naked girls.

Anyway, pfft, Eus, I will do Shenmue.

+ Unique and engrossing "real life" engine.
+ Intriguing story.
+ You get to play Space Harrier at the arcade!

- At some points...  The action dragged.
- Not enough fightan!
- Sometimes playing Space Harrier was funner than the actual game...

Up next: Star Ocean: The Second Story.

Star Ocean: The Second Story

+ Two characters with different characters that can join them, and the interactions are great
+ Item creation system is deep and varied
+ Absurdly awesome challenge level

- Rena's the only healer with decent AI
- Voice acting
- TEARRRRRRRR INTO PIEEEEECES

Final Fantasy Tactics.

Final Fantasy Tactics

+ Complex and involving storyline
+ Intricate job system
+ Excellent soundtrack

- Poor translation
- A certain NPC spoils the challenge
- No exploration mode (towns are menu-based)

Next: Final Fantasy II (the original, not FFIV)

Final Fantasy II

+One of the first (Japanese) RPG with multiple playable characters that actually had a personality and background.
+Bigger emphasis on storyline compared to many other RPG that were made back then
+Abusing the defective experience system is fun

-Experience system was unbalanced and easy to abuse
-Almost unplayable if you don't spend a lot of time stat-building
-Evil Empire? Rebels led by a princess? I think I've heard that somewhere before...

Next up: Breath of Fire III

Hmm, oddly enough I'm replaying BoFIII at the moment

Pros:

+Quirky side-missions make for an interesting gameplay experience (training Beyd, making shisu, etc)
+Fairly in depth character customization with the master system, but not too in depth that characters lose their individuality.
+Story is decent and is not insanely long (which is a plus to me, I'm a little tired of 70+ hour games)

Cons:
-Some characters are fairly bad and it takes work to make them worth using (I'm lookin' at you, Nina!)
-Game is too easy for the most part

I can't really think up too many complaints at the moment.

Next game: Valkyrie Profile 2

Oh oh, I got this one!!!

Valkyrie Profile II.

+ By far the best graphics on the PS2.
+ Awesome Norse Myth setting.
+ Fuckin great storyline punctuated by some bloody cool characters.

- The battle system would have been perfect if they didn't introduce the ability, scratch that, NEED to move around the combat screen.  I died a lot trying to dash at an enemy to attack it only to be in the sights of four groups of idiots.
- The recruitable Einherjar were all very generic and had so little dialog...  I thought that to be detracting from the real characters you could recruit.
- At the end of the game when...  Spoiler and Spoiler and Spoiler and Spoiler all decide to go Super Saiyin.  This really detracted from their individuality.

As a side note, I have to say that VP2 was a fucking great game and I am so glad we got it.  VP1 is one of my favorite games ever and while VP2 doesn't quite escalate to the plateau of the original, it is still fucking solid.  And after such a long wait...  Glad we got anything at all.

Okay!  Shining Force II!

Are we all TRYING to choose games which certain people haven't played?!

Let me put this one in: Breath of Fire V ~ Dragon Quarter

+ Soundtrack by Hitoshi Sakimoto
+ Dark, industrial punk setting that rivals FFVII
+ Simple, yet cohesive and interesting plot; mostly situational, and not character-based

- Not many characters; only about 2-3 of them are really developed and are really important in relation to the whole grand scheme of the plot
- Dragon Timer makes player feel rushed
- Having to go through the game 3-4 times before finally finishing the end may be taxing for some players

If you can't play by the rules, don't fucking play.  Jesus Christ, the boards don't revolve around what you have and haven't played.

If you haven't played a certain game, just wait until another title is posted. Or do you want to claim the people here know your 'Finished RPG list' by heart and are selecting other titles just to spite you?

Shining Force II isn't exactly an obscure game, there are several Shining Force fans we frequent this board, you may not be one of them, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

And Final Fantast VII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Lunar 2, Tales of Symphonia, those are all popular games here. Even Breath of Fire III got a reaction in less than three hours.

Edit: hey what happened?! I tried to edit my original post and now it's suddenly a new reply? Sorry for the double post...

At first I read that as SFIII and couldn't really blame him, but then I saw it was SFII and... Yeah. :P

I honestly have to agree, though I have nothing against Bern. Rules are rules, post if there is a game you do know you can critique. I didn't play much of SH2 to judge it myself. I will just wait until I can judge a game I do know well.
