But I normally put on Dream Theater - Trial of Tears after listening to him. Just because of his major widdling in the song. :P
Seriously, his solo in that is just the greatest thing ever. I really want to get some of his solo stuff, but I've spent way too much recently. I'll get one eventually.
Song of the Moment: Yes - Talk
(not sure if that's the actual title of the song because it's all aplit up and crap, but I don't have the tracklistings, so it'll do!)

Running Wild - Conquistadores
The most awesomely ridiculous chorus that has ever existed, overdone even by '80s metal standards, eclipsing even that cheesy "shout it out" shit in Priest's "Ram It Down". :P

Song of the moment is "Hollow" by Sun Caged. I'm listening to it for the 4th time in a row right now. It's a fantastic song. Sun Caged are a prog-metal band from The Netherlands/Holland. Man, Holland is like a little hotbed for prog metal. Ayreon, Sun Caged, Arabesque... WOW!
http://www.suncaged.com
Definitely check 'em out. They have a lot of music available on their site (including all their old demos). The song Hollow is a more traditional prog piece. Other stuff they do reminds me of stuff like Dysrhythmia or Behold... The Arctopus but a bit more accessible. Very interesting band, musically.
I cribbed the lyrics from metal-archives.com.
Whispered like a breeze,
mute the sound relieves my pain.
Midst the machine,
feed upon his stain.
Casted like a spell,
the need to feel has fled my will.
Still I can't tell,
the emptiness to fill.
Wasted lies to deny this hollow space inside.
Wasted time, pass me by.
Many times I've tried.
Let light come in to taste the glass evasive stare,
Like shifting tides the picture bends
the many sides this story has.

Today's song of the moment is one of the best songs ever from the best album ever.
Bruce Dickinson - The Book of Thel
[Bruce Dickinson / Roy Z. / Eddie Casillas]
The mark is on you now
The furnace sealed inside your head
Melting from the inside now
Waxy tears run down your face
The whore that never told her tale
Relives it every night with you
Far off stands the lamb and waits
For the wolf to come and end its life
Stand inside the temple
As the book of Thel is opening
The priestess stands before you
Offering her hand out, she's rising
Come the dawning of the dead
In famine and in war
Now the harlot womb of death
Spits out its rotten core
Serpent on the altar now
Has wrapped itself around your spine
So you look into its mouth
And you kiss the pearly fangs divine
Happy that your end is swift
The weeping virgin cries in bliss
The snake and priestess, they are one
The veil of flesh is ripped undone
Stand inside the temple
As the book of Thel is opening
The priestess stands before you
Offering her hand out, she's rising
Come the dawning of the dead
In famine and in war
Now the harlot womb of death
Spits out its rotten core
By the pricking of my thumbs
Something wicked this way comes
And when sleep takes you tonight
Will you wake to see the light...?
The burning sweat of poison tears
The river flowing red with blood
The cradle-robbing hand of death
Caresses every dreaming head
Waiting for the marriage hearse
To take you to the funeral pyre
So you burn the family tree
The generations burning higher
Stand inside the temple
As the book of Thel is opening
The priestess stands before you
Offering her hand out, she's rising
Come the dawning of the dead
In famine and in war
Now the harlot womb of death
Spits out its rotten core
By the pricking of my thumbs
Something wicked this way comes
And when sleep takes you tonight
Will you wake to see the light
By the dawning of the dead...
By the dawning of the dead...
By the dawning of the dead...
By the dawning of the dead...
What demon hath formed this abominable void...
This soul-shuddering vacuum?
Some said it is Urizen -
But unknown, abstracted, brooding secret
The dark power hid

Song of the moment is by Built to Spill. I've gotten back into listening to their album, Keep it Like a Secret, and I feel like a hole in my life has been filled. :P
SOTM...
Built to Spill - You Were Right
You were wrong when you said everythings gonna be alright
You were wrong when you said everythings gonna be alright
You were right when you said all that glitters isn't gold
You were right when you said all we are is dust in the wind
You were right when you said we're all just bricks in the wall
And when you said manic depression's a frustrated mess
You were wrong when you said everythings gonna be alright
You were wrong when you said everythings gonna be alright
You were wrong when you said everythings gonna be alright
You were right when you said you cant always get what you want
You were right when you said it's a hard rain's gonna fall
You were right when you said were still running against the wind
Life goes on long after the thrill of living is gone
You were right when you said this is the end
Do you ever think about it?
Do you ever think about it?
Do you ever think about it?
Do you ever think about it?
You may notice that a lot of the lines sound familliar. Well, that's because the song is mostly made up of classic rock songs. It's BtS's tribute to classic rock and, in the spirit of Indie Rock, it's cheeky. The lyrics, though aren't the only interesting part of the song; the music behind it is awesome. It's one side to BtS; nice, tight, guitar rock.

I have been all about MC Lars lately. MC Lars Signing Emo
"Marty, Marty listen to me.
Bring me something the kids will cry for
Get out there, and get us stoked!"
Meet Marty, major label A&R scout
Forty years old, gut hanging out
Red Ferrari, Marty living in L.A.
Bumps another line to get through the day
Dumped by his girl, he paid for her liposuction
His friends call him "Money," in his introduction
And Marty knows nothing but claims to know it all
Lose the flat screen TV if he drops the ball
You’re as good as your last hit, find the next big thing
If he doesn't bring the bling, his cell phone won't ring
What's the trend, what's new? What's a label scout to do?
Office life, Marty 11:32
The label pres. calls and yells, "Sign more emo!"
How about screamo? "If it sells, sign Nemo,"
"We're down 2%, and BMG knows,
My Daughter likes Dashboard, so get me one of those!"
He checks AP.net, the Scout and more
Yelling band names to his assistant through the door
The kids like this, who cares if it's great?
So he signs a band called Hearts that Hate
"Marty... we've got a hit!"
CHORUS
Cry tonight. My hands around your hands
I won't let you die tonight
Cry tonight. My heart's in your hands
I won't let you...
Hearts that Hate, Marty goes to their show,
Up in the club and here we go
Marty sees a girl in a Simple Plan shirt
With a Senses Fail boy, ha! that’ll never work
He finds his label friends in the corner they huddle
An emo cattle auction, they penetrate the bubble
They talk about Victory and signing TBS
Dissing the same bands they just tried to impress
So the lights go down, the crowd starts to scream
Hearts that Hate have hit the scene
Blake on vocals, and lead guitar
He does a backflip, "Look how different we are!"
They show up at the studio to record it
A TRL, Billboard Modern Rock hit
They auto-tune Blake, but he can't tell
He says, "I've got perfect pitch, damn I sing well"
ProTools, Logic, cut, copy, paste,
Quantized solos and quantized bass
Signed, sealed, delivered and sent,
Across the U.S. and the single went
REPEAT CHORUS
Momentum builds, but it all caves in
Industrial comes back, the pres. needs a NIN
Marty finds a new band called "Fetal Coil"
And Hearts that Hate try to keep their fans loyal
They re-work their sound for album number two
As "Machines of Hate” but their career is through
They break up and work pushing mops and brooms
Blake gives guitar lessons in his living room
Blake gives guitar lessons in his living room
Blake gives guitar lessons in his living room
"Can you teach me track five Mr. Blake?"
"Hey, I wrote that song and it goes like this!"

All right, we are going to use a fan brush here and uh why don't you take some hunter green and we are going to put a happy little bush right down over here in the corner there and that'll just be our little secret and if you tell anyone that that bush is there I will come to your house and I will cut you.

Utada Hikaru - Passion (Kingdom Hearts II's theme song)
The Japanese version, that is. The English one blows... the vocals don't flow as well. :(

I swear to God, I haven't listened to The chemical Wedding for ages before this week, and now I can't stop listening to it. Every song is fucking excellent.
Trumpets of Jericho
[Bruce Dickinson / Roy Z.]
This is the maze of life
This is the maze of death
This is the matrix of eternity
The demon never sleeps
The demon never lies
He beats my heart and leaves no echo
What heavy burden holds me back
Every step along the track?
Fear that reaches deep inside of me
At the trumpets of Jericho
Still the walls remain
At the trumpets of Jericho
Avalon's in chains
This is the river of space
This is the river of time
Chase the dragons of infinity
Atlas stands and laughs
Throws his burden down
Rolls the Earth in the Inferno
Fingers holding onto cracks
The howling wind that blows us back
Sucked into the grinding wheels of Hell
At the trumpets of Jericho
Still the walls remain
Blow the trumpets of Jericho
Still the walls remain
At the end of the rainbow
There the grail remains
Sound the trumpets of Jericho
Avalon's in chains
As they drag you down
In your clothes of lead
See the golden light
Flashing overhead
Mocking you
Do you know who you are
In your robes of skin?
How many creatures live inside you?
Man is born forever free
But is everywhere in chains?
Trapped inside this earthly prison cell
At the trumpets of Jericho
Still the walls remain
At the trumpets of Jericho
Avalon's in chains
At the trumpets of Jericho
There the grail remains
At the trumpets of Jericho
Still the walls remain
Still the walls remain
Still the walls remain
Still the walls remain
The silence of the tomb
The wheel of fortune round

I've been listening to the live version of X Japan's "Art of Life" recently. Good stuff. If you think I'm posting the lyrics to a song that long, you're fucking crazy. :P
