Harry Potter 5 - Um, not sure what to say about this one. Let's see, only fans of the book would actually understand everything in this film - certain rather important things were so vague that anyone who hadn't read the books wouldn't get them. Other than that, it was okay i suppose... Not that I actually care about the Harry Potter movies.

Plus I thought it was kind of amusing to see some guy from Dogdeball being in a main part in a "serious" film. And why exactly was Kevin Smith in a movie /not/ made by him? Not that I actually care about the Die Hard movies... Except Jeremy Irons or Alan Rickman is a much better bad guy than some American guy.

I saw the new Harry Potter yesterday. I really disagree about it being the best yet. There was no sense of build up towards the climax, and so many threads were started but just forgotten before the end. I suppose that's what comes from trying to please fans of the book. It all looked really nice, and the fight at the end was great.

I rather enjoyed the movie. It was probably the "darkest" of the potter flicks and I felt it was better for it. They excluded a bunch of the silly stuff from the books. Especially during the last sequence. Good call on the screen adapters part. I look forward to seeing what this director does with Half Blood Prince.

Took the fam to see Ratatouille a couple weeks back. Good movie, but I wouldn't rank it higher than Incredibles or Iron Giant (Brad Birds other movies), let alone the best pixar stuff. They did everything they could with a boring subject. I'm not even sure I'd call it a kids movie. Visually maybe, but the subject matter was way over a kids little head. Great scene towards the end with the critic.

I watched Hot Fuzz again yesterday. I thought I'd like it more second time around, but no. As a Brit I guess I expect more from those guys!

I also just finished watching Flags of our Fathers. I enjoyed it a lot, but felt that Eastwood overcooked it a bit, especially towards the end. It opens up a few too many timeframes, and I thought it felt a bit unfocused.

Finally got to see "Four Brothers".  Really good film.  Also watched "Salem's Lot". Wow....I guess that's what happens to a great novel when it's made for T.V. Blech!
