The Descent - This is seriously one of the best horror films I've seen. The monsters (not a great word to describe them but it'll do), were genuinely scary (despite my many Gollum jokes), and the whole film was full of tension due to the claustrophobic atmosphere of the caves. It also used some great horror movie classics, without ever being cheesy.

I rented almost all of the movies I've been meaning to see lately. The only one I got to, though, was History of Violence. It was pretty damn good. I was actually shocked by the gore, like when a guy gets shot in the back of the head and you see him lying face down, one side of his face blown out, gurgling in his own pool of blood. There aren't many of these, but they add to the pure and grizzly feel of the movie. The performances were also great all around. Lots of character, especially with William Hurt being as wierd and cooky as he could. :P
Now for Capote, and then Walk the Line.

Batman Begins - I rather enjoyed this. Easily one of the better, if not the best, of the batman movies. Liam Neeson seemed out of place, though.
Watching the last disc of Firefly episodes.

No kidding about the graphic violence in A History of Violence. The scene where the guy gets his nose broken several times was shocking. The sex scene in there were shocking too (at least for me it was).
I also saw Memiors of a Geisha and I can see why it won oscars for cinematography and costumes. I liked the movie but when you think about a guy liking a girl who could be his daughter, it's kind of gross. I mean he was married with children, ick. Oh, I also found Gong Li to be very beautiful.

Watched 40 year old Virgin, holy crap this movie was just hilarious.
CluelessWonder, you're absolutely right! Gong Li is beautiful and she is already 40 I think, but was still way prettier than Zhang Ziyi.

History of Violence. WHat a poor movie. What a shame it has 3-4 really good parts (lasting either under or just 5 minutes) and the rest is just useles jabber. Haha, I thought the sex-scenes were...unique; if it wasn't for the sweet orchestrated music, I would have guessed I was watching porn.

high school role play, and 69-ing it
BUt honestly, this movie could have used more killing, since it had done it so well.
Waiting... - funny crude comedy, it was great. And, I gotta say, its pretty accurate in some respects.

Watched Chronicles of Narnia last night. It was entertaining, but not as good as I had hoped. It felt rushed, like they need another hour or something. I never really cared about any of the characters. The whole Aslan thing was meaningless. Even the battle didn't do much for me.
What did I like? The beavers were cool. Loved the accent. Reminded me of Yangus from DQVIII.
The kids were great, from an acting standpoint.
The queen was perfectly evil.
The look of the film was well done.
Yet, for some reason, when it all came together, it just didn't work for me.
Not bad, just "eh".

Godzilla (the American one) - A fairly terrible film, but I always enjoy watching it whenever it's on TV. I love how they manage to blame a giant dinosaur destroying New York on the French!

War of the Worlds - It was pretty good up until about halfway through. After that it was just horrible.

I saw Lucky Number Slevin last night and it was better than I expected. Though a little predictable, I wasn't able to call all the twists.

Ice Age 2 - Surprisingly, this was better than the original. I much prefer the Ice Age movies to the Shrek 2 and the other Dreamworks ones (excluding Shrek 1). The characters are so endearing, and it wasn't ridiculously up it's own arse like Shrek 2. Also, how fucking sexy were the water effects? And seriously, the little squirrel thing is one of the greatest animated characters ever.
