The history of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is now so complicated that every time I tell it I contradict myself, and whenever I do get it right I'm misquoted. So the publication of this omnibus edition seemed like a good opportunity to set the record straight--or at least firmly crooked.

Watched it on opening day, so the only thing I can advise you if you do wish to see it is go smashed. Same effect if going sober.

i've already seen it.  it was.......ok...  i'm not the biggest dbz fan there is out there granted but the movie still did some nice things.  the story is basically setup like this.  picollo (sp?) is the bad guy goku is in high school just learning his ki and whatnot.  then the rest goes from there.  overall i give it a thumbs up on the simple fact i thought it was gonna be a lame movie with the dbz name slapped on it.

You're joking, right?

Yeah.  And that's just all wrong.  Goku never went to school and he's never been a teenager.  :P   He was a kid and then an adult father.  No inbetweens.

He was a teenager from the second tournament arc to the end of DB.

Goku was an eighteen-year old being BULLIED AT HIGH SCHOOL.

Is this fail, or what?

There's nothing wrong with being different from the source material- it's that they threw together whatever hackneyed shit they could think of in 5 minutes and tried to sell it using the name.

A friend of mine who enjoyed the movie was saying that comparing it to the source material is a mistake. And I ask: is it a DB movie or is it not? If they want to adapt it they have to respect the original material, otherwise they're just trying to sell us random crap with the name of a popular franchi$e.

It's a movie about a high school boy.

The Dragon Balls just happen to be part of the movie to tie it into the franchise.

"I felt a nameless dread. Well, there probably is a long German name for it, like Geschpooklichkeit or something, but I don't speak German. Anyway, it's a dread that nobody knows the name for, like those little square plastic gizmos that close your bread bags. I don't know the name for those either."
