Joystiq is reporting Persona 4 to be released next year, possibly to tie into the upcoming anime. Also says it will be a PS2 release.

I'm glad it's on the PS2!  I'd cry if it was a PS3 only release.

I'm sure they were thinking they'd actually make money if they went with the PS2. :p  But yeah, I'm tentatively excited, though it depends on if Persona 4 ends up being similar to the third or the first (the latter I just didn't like, though maybe that was just not to my taste at the time).

FES AND Persona 4 want ;_;

It's cool that it is on the ps2, though it wouldn't be bad for me if it was going to be on PS3 instead. My brother wind up getting that for a blu-ray player.

I'd actually be happy if various RPG companies pulled their heads out of Michael Stipes' collective arse and did the smart thing: Rip off Persona 3 like FF1 ripped of DQ ripped off Ultima.

It'd be funny if Persona 4 is SO AWESOME that it outsells a lot of next gen endeavors, in some defiant middle-claw raised to the gaming industry at large (Sort of like how Dwarf Fortress is the world's biggest 'fuck you' to, say, big-name, large-scale developers).

Yay for people completely ignoring the front page again, despite the story sitting there for two days already.

Can't freakin' wait.
I loved the second and third installments like crazy, and know I'm going to loe this one.

It was pretty shockng to hear that it was going to be on the PS2 though, but I'm definitely pleased with that decision, since I'm  currently lacking in the next-gen department.

I was hoping for a PS3 release, but due to its early struggles and high production costs, I see why it's on the PS2. I just hope Atlus USA releases it over here sometime in 2009, if they still want to release PS2 games in 2009.

PS2 could very well last until 2009. So many stellar titles came out for it this year and there's still a good bit coming out next year.

But yeah, here's hoping Atlus doesn't shelve the PS2 before the NA release.

If they don't we can all cut off our middle fingers and mail them to atlus.

For that matter, let's do that to the guy that decided that Mother 3 didn't get a US release!
