Yea, not cool. I don't understand celebrities' fascination with drugs. I mean, I guess it is still possible that it was suicide, but that still doesn't really change anything.

I can still like him. Being dead won't change that, His body of work still exists.

Wait a second, His?  It's a little early to be treating him like Jesus. :P

Heath Ledger was one of my more preferred actors, and a lot of that had to do with the fact that he actually acted, and wasn't in it for fame. He was very private, and I never really heard all that much about him. I've enjoyed most of his movies; even in the more mediocre ones during his early career, he at least gave out a fun performance and made them watchable. His career was escalating quite well, and he was starting to see a solid run of really strong films and roles, which is why it's such a shame that it's ended now. He had nowhere to go but UP, or at least I thought.

I'm actually still in a state of disbelief, as I've been talking about his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight to a lot of friends and family. My mum called me up and told me about it, and I was pretty stunned.

I watched Fox News' various updates in the 5:00 hour, but after that I've been busy. Do we know yet if it was accidental, or a suicide? Probably won't fully know until the autopsy tomorrow.

The news in the UK changed their reports at about 5am local time that the pills found near him were sleeping pills.

Sounds like suicide to me...

Another interesting amendment is that his house-keeper is now reportedly to have found him naked, face-down, at the end of his bed, unconscious, not dead, but it was most certainly a cadaver that was taken from his apartment.

It's a shame. Like Alucard said, he seemed to be a very private person, and very down to earth, too. It seems he had a lot of personal demons he lost out to, though. :(

It was quite surreal when I heard about this. I was at a bar last night for someone's birthday, and everybody got a text from their friend or girlfriend or brother saying the same thing. We were all really shocked, but no one was sure why.

I think it's more shocking due to his age, and because his face has been absolutely everywhere in promotion for The Dark Knight. Plus he's quite big with a lot of students.

I'm still not convinced of the whole suicide angle. I don't know if this is true, and obviously it will be hard to come up with anything solid until the autopsy, but I spoke with my mum again last night and she said that she had heard two things; one: the sleeping pills were called "Ambien", and two: he was currently fighting a bout of pneumonia. Apparently, he had been having trouble sleeping, and had that pill prescribed to him. Last I checked, Ambien was prone to a bevy of off-wall side-effects. I've heard reports saying that in certain situations it can cause respiratory problems, meanwhile there have been several stating that people took the pill, passed out, and woke up driving their car.

So in short, my mum kind of suspects that if the pill can cause respiratory problems, and you already have pneumonia... obviously not good. So I kind of am leaning a bit more towards its being accidental if this information turns out to be accurate. I wouldn't be surprised, as most doctors seem perfectly content to just write out prescriptions and get on with their day (regardless of what other medications you might be on; it always seems like only pharmacists have their shit together). Guess we'll know "for sure" after the autopsy.

That's what I thought.  Both parts.  I felt guilty, too.

Someone at work said that he was so sexy.  I corrected her in saying was.  She was not impressed.  Then again, she was even less impressed when someone piped up behind me saying he'd make a lovely pile of compost.  :P
