That dude is fucking awesome. He used to do a lot of Photoshop tutorials back in the days of the Screensavers. All his work is done to so damn much detail it's mind boggling.

While I understand the work that goes into something like this, I don't understand the reactions to it. Just looks like picture to me. I could have grabbed my camera, drove up to this spot and taken a picture.
Why digitaly duplicate something like this? Just to challenge yourself? See how good you are at creating digital "art"? Kind've a dull picture to me. Don't see too many people wanting to buy a print. To each his own, I guess.

I totally agree with you.

Don't get me wrong, Bert Monroy is one of the best guy using photorealism effects but the problem is actually there, there’s no artistic touch in his work. Not even some interesting light effects or color schemes. It’s too much realistic, as if it was snaps grabbed by an average photograph with no particular skill…

But yeah, Bert knows perfectly how to use Photoshop.

Last year I ordered a CD from him on linda.com. It was really nice and there were a lot of useful techniques.

Still I would prefer to use a 3D software instead of Photoshop to create those kinds of images. At least Bert’s techniques are interesting to create awesome textures.
