When I first went to London, my hostel was in Kensington. They would not let me stay there the first night as I did not have some fucking card for their association. So on, like, my forth day in England, I spent the night wandering around a city I had never been before. With three quid. Thank fuck for 24 hour Tesco's. Their 19p yoghurt kept me alive. :P
Yea, I luckily didn't have that experience, but first getting off the Tube and getting out onto the streets at the South Ken tube station was really disorienting. It took us 45 minutes, but we eventually found our housing that is only about a fifteen minute walk away. Now I live in a tiny flat with three other guys...
But yea, the Tesco across the street from the tube station on Gloucester is my hero. So is the Sandwich Place just up the street too. £1.75 for a decently sized, delicious sandwich is wonderful.
