So I WOULD put this in the music thread, but it's just a bunch of metalheads there who never EVER respond to my comments about VGM. So screw that, I'm posting here.

Earlier this week we ran a news story on "drammatica," on orchestral album containing works from Yoko Shimomura. It looks like she did the arranged work herself. The work includes Legend of Mana, Heroes of Mana, Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Front Mission, LiveaLive, and one track from FF Versus XIII.

And NOW there's a "trailer" for the album. It contains the opening from Legend of Mana, fully orchestrated.

http://www.square-enix.co.jp/music/sem/page/drammatica/

I am FREAKING OUT about how good this album is going to be. Preordered? Most definitely.

Yeah!  Metallica!

Oh, wait.  That's not what you said, is it?  Never mind.

;)

(I really liked the music in KH - might have to buy this album.)

I would've been happy with just Legend of Mana....but this is cool, thanks.

Personally? I'd be happy if they did away with KH1 and 2, and in its place, put in Mario RPG and Parasite Eve (Shimomura's *other* works with Square). But they worked in LiveALive, which is Shimomura's OLDEST work with Square, as well as Front Mission (which, IMO, has an excellent soundtrack). So that's cool.

On Feb 26 the tracklist will be released in full. I'm so pumped.

I was let down with "Vielen Dank," which was Square Enix's last "let's fund our in-house composer to arrange their own work" album. Hamauzu really could've done more with it. But I do have high hopes from Shimomura.

I'm more excited for the new Bloodbath, the samples on the mini site are fucking great.  I'm especially stoked for Blasting the Virgin Born.

This should be on iTunes. Seriously. We have pre-XII FF OSTs and Mother3 music on there, they should put this on there (and FFXII's OST).

Consider it bought. I'm interested in hearing that Final Fantasy Versus XIII track.

I thought the Final Fantasy XII OST was available on the Japanese version of the iTunes store, but even here in Japan they only have the Best of Final Fantasy XII album available for download for whatever reason.

I would've settled for just a Legend of Mana Arrange Album; got a lot of favorite pieces from that soundtrack, but you could still fit them on a single Best-Made-Better album.

I've barely ever listened to anything else she had to offer.

...

So, heavy metal...anybody here like Nightwish?!

It seems they've updated the Drammatica page which now includes the tracklist.

The Final Fantasy Versus XIII song on the CD is called Somnus.
