Your thoughts on Capcom being sued over Dead Rising.

Well seems you can now own an idea like Zombies in a mall.  I bring this up not because it pertains to gaming culture but also because things like this seem to be rising in popularity.  Seeing exactly what you can and cannot own and hence sue over it.

I mean something like this just seems so utterly rediculous, its like saying you own the idea of a Superhero, or own the idea of Orcs and Elves and Dwarves in a fantasy setting.  I highly doubt the filing party will win, but if they did it would be one scary thing.

What are your thoughts on this kind of thing?

Copyright and IP is very important in many ways, but the system can be abused too easily.

I don't see a problem with basic concepts, otherwise there'd have to be an assload of lawsuits and we'd probably miss on some great ideas. I doubt an officially licensed game of the movie would work as well as a similar, independent product.
